I enjoy some games on the iPad though I realize there are lots more to chose from.
There are lots that don't appeal to me though as they are aimed at youngsters who enjoy snazzy special effects.
I like crosswords, code words, card games, scrabble and soduko. I'd like to widen my range a bit, so what games do you have on your iPad? Preferably free and it would be good if some can be played offline for times when we may be away where there is no internet access.

Word feud, crosscraze which can be played off line, wordathon, pressed for words. I enjoy all those

Thanks, Chris, I like words with friends too - do you play that?

BlueBelle Wed 30-Nov-16 05:57:38

Words with friends I play everyday not with any friends just people from all over

I enjoy playing games on the iPad too. Have you tried Word Brain - you work up through levels for this one (fortunately some kind souls have put answers on the web if you need to google them!)

I have added mahjong to my cards and words collection. There are lots of free versions, some good some not so, but worth experimenting with them. I have been enjoying Mahjong journey - another one needing to work through levels, (in the same way as candy crush and possible to do so without spending money.) But they have updated it recently and my ancient iPad is no longer compatible with the update, so I'm not happy about that.

I used to play Words with Friends with my son and daughter in law, but DH has now hijacked it and he and d-i-l take it very seriously! I might try some of the ones suggested here but, like grannaby my iPad is creaking at the seams too.

I don't have an iPad, just a Chrome laptop and a Kindle Fire. Word Brain sounds intriguing. I must find out if it's available for the Chrome of Android formats. Meanwhile, I fill in gaps in the day with Freecell! tbsmile

I play Word Soup (there is a free and a paid for version) when I am unable to sleep.

I play bridge - only with myself not others - too scary - I love it

Just tried word brain; it will only accept one answer e.g or did not accept rock when the answer is cork. Maybe that doesn't happen when the words get longer?
It's good to try new games though as I've been in a bit of a rut playing the same ones.

Ah, ignore the above, I've got the knack now! It's good. Thanks

Have you tried Mystery Manor? I play for free and it is sadly addictive. I am also a fan of Candy Crush and card games. Words with Friends is great.

Chris, I can't find cross craze in the App Store for the iPad . Are you using a chrome tablet?
I have put several of these ideas on the iPad and enjoying trying them all out. Just what I needed!
Any more?

I am really dense. I have opened up word brain but can't find out what I am supposed to do

jusnoneed Thu 01-Dec-16 12:04:54

You have to find the words represented by the number of blank spaces, they are made up of adjoining letters (any direction) and you use all the letters in each puzzle Flossie. Hope that makes sense, hard to explain. Slide your fingers over the letters, when you make a correct word it will fill into the blanks and the remaining grid letters will drop.

Thank you

Sorry mrsmopp I've got that one on my phone. It's an Ort game.
You are better than me at words with friends.

jusnoneed Thu 01-Dec-16 18:45:24

I like Word Battle, play that on laptop and Ipad. Word Champs is another I spend too much time on.

Hidden object puzzle/adventure games by Big Fish keep me happily occupied for hours.

Granacrist. Which bridge games do you play.?. Have you tried No Fear Bridge. There's an annual fee of about £45 but it's fantastic. It gives you the answers if you get things wrong and you can play as often as you like. Really great for improving your bridge game without the stress of the bridge club or just playing with friends.
