Help...to increase my WiFi range

Can anyone please help.
My WiFi range is limited and I am thinking of adding a WiFi extender.
Is this simple to do, or should I leave well alone?
I have a Netgear router.
Thanks in advance.

I got a booster from my provider which at the time was Sky.

Sorry should have said it was easy - just plugged in

Yes me too - it was BT - amazing difference. If you are short of sockets, make sure you get one that allows you to continue to use the socket for other things

I bought my booster from Amazon and it is plugged in upstairs to my TV there.

We got ours from Maplins. We find them really helpful.

My BT modem is upstairs next to my computer. If I buy a new tv in my lounge downstairs and it needs internet connection, will one of these plug in thingys do the job?

I read in my tech that you can make a semi circle with aluminum foil and put it around the antenna with the closed part toward the window or other area you never use your wifi. Put open part toward area you want to extend to. It was on youtube How to make a parabolic WiFi booster with aluminum foil - Video _ Wonder How To.flv

We have a booster plugged in upstairs which extends the range from this little office all the way up to my bedroom at the other side of the house - you just plug it in to a spare socket. Hive also recently sent us one as they must have seen that our system wasn't being picked up on anything - it just arrived in the post and worked right away. You can pick them up in most electrical places like Maplins
