I have a list of my passwords. Tried to log into Apple Mac today and got msg that password was incorrect (??) had no choice but to change it and that's a palaver these days. So I did the change and got email telling me it had been changed. OK.
So I try to logon again, got another msg saying password incorrect. Very exasperating! Now I find my phone won't work - well I can txt but can't get emails.
So fed up I feel like binning the lot. I'm getting too Plc for this caper and I'm getting fed up with Apple.

Have you changed your account password to the new one in your phone settings? That may be why you're not receiving email.

I have worked with Apple devices for many years. The one thing that can make things difficult for Apple customers is if anything goes wrong when they enter their Apple ID (email address) and the password that goes with it.
You will need to check your changed password works, try logging in and out of your Apple account online. Once you are happy that you've got it right, make sure that you always know your Apple ID and password.
Are you using an Apple email address (@icloud.com)? If you are, then Katek is right and you need to change your password to your new one in your email account settings on your phone.
The Apple ID is key to using Apple devices. I know mine by heart although I keep it in a password manager so that I can copy and paste it - that way I can't make a mistake unless I leave the upper case setting on. (Yes, been there, done that, got locked out too.)

I have a googlemail email and also iCloud email.
Can I have the same password for all thing Apple? Because it really would help. My phone did not recognise the new password I entered when I changed it on the mac.
Apple emailed me to confirm I had changed it (even though I had enter the one I been using for ages) Such a palaver to change it - they wanted my bank info and even now the new password I entered is not being accepted.
This all makes me feel stupid that I get like this. Scary!

Another bit I don't understand is that the problem was with my googlemail password I had to change but it was the iCloud email that stopped working on my android phone, if that makes any sense.

Also, my iCloud emails come ok on the iPad but not the phone. Yet it was the googlemail that I had to change the password for. Does this make sense as its double Dutch to me I'm afraid.

Last week Apple told me my date of birth was incorrect. If only.....

NanaMacGeek Mon 04-Sep-17 22:02:01

grumpaa, Apple use American date format, perhaps you entered your date of birth using UK format? Maybe Apple have rejuvenated you!

This is interesting as my iPad keeps saying my email password is incorrect and the password I log into a certain site with is incorrect. I can get email and log in fine on my iPhone and the password is the same on both. I even changed password for the website then reentered the new one on both devices. After one use the iPad said it was incorrect again. Baffled!

Are you sorted, Mrs Mopp? I'd take the macbook into the Apple shop. The staff are very helpful and will probably sort you out for free.

I find it rather worrying that they’ve asked you for your bank details?

NanaMacGeek Thu 16-Nov-17 22:39:23

It is possible to register with Apple without giving them debit/credit card details. You can skip that part of the registration process. However, part of Apple’s security infrastructure depends on the user only buying safe apps from them. At some stage you will want to download an app from the app store. If it is an app that you need to pay for (say you want to learn a language), you want to buy music or for iCloud storage, somehow, you have to pay for it. A cheque in the post is no use to Apple. So you need to store your card details with them. Many manage without buying anything from Apple but there is some useful, fairly inexpensive stuff available.

In order to ensure you don't register a bank card with Apple, skip the card details on registration but, once registered, go to the app store and download a free app. You will be asked again to enter debit/credit card details but there will be an option not to register one and you can select that. It is the only time you get that option. If you decide to make purchases at any time, you will need to add your card details to your Apple account.

Either ring them or go to their shop They are have the most helpful kind customer service I ve ever known and they are used to talking to non techs so are very easy with any lack of knowledge I have rung twice and ended up ‘best friends’ with first an Egyptian gent in Cork then a Portuguese man in Portugal Their English was perfect and they were the most patient helpful people I have ever come across in customer service I have also been in their shop 30 miles and a bus ride away and the lady I saw there was equally kind very personable and solved all my problems My older friend has told me what lovely service she had when she mucked things up so I think it s general thing

I always use iTunes cards to buy apps, books and music. I didn’t have to reveal my bank details until I needed extra iCloud back up which I purchased for 79p a month. However, up to now they have always taken the 79p from my iTunes balance which is termed “in store credit”.
