DVD player and Iplayer

We are having problems with our DVD player this week. It records and plays OK, but if we want to watch anything on Iplayer, it goes through all the stages until the last one, where it says Iplayer loading, but won`t go any further. We`ve tried deleting all recorded programmes, unplugging the DVD player, and rebooting the router, all to no avail. Has anyone any ideas?

Were you able to record iPlayer to DVD before last week?

Yes, the problems only started on Monday night.

If you record iPlayer programmes often on to DVD and keep them for viewing longer than the BBC allows, are you using software to get round DRM (Digital Rights Management)? I understand that the use of iPlayer downloads is supposed to be controlled with programmes 'becoming unavailable' after a certain time.

Video players can read the embedded iPlayer codes.

Circumventing DRM was not legal before I retired and I'd be surprised if the BBC are any more generous now. I haven't been keeping up with the technology so really don't know but would guess you may be falling foul of the iPlayer 'rules'. I hope you get some more helpful replies, I'm happy to learn too although I've never tried to record BBC iPlayer programmes to my DVD player.

I'm wondering why you'd need to record iplayer stuff?

I`m not trying to record Iplayer stuff, I`m trying to watch things that I missed or forgot to record, in this case, Strictly, it Takes Two. With it being back after a 9 month break, we keep forgetting to put it on at 6.30pm, so would like to watch on Iplayer, but this week it just isn`t happening.

Could it have something to do with WIFI, I'm not techy at all but it was just a thought.
It's not loading for some reason.

Hello, sorry, I wasn't aware of smart dvd players with BBC iPlayer availability (or not as in your case), so I assumed that you were somehow recording iPlayer.

A few problems similar to yours have been reported on the internet and there is a link on the BBC iPlayer website:-
www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/troubleshooting/tv-games-consoles/troubleshooting_tv_games
It may help, otherwise, I think you will have to start googling the problem on the internet using the make and model of both your dvd player and TV.

I`ve just looked at the link, thanks for the info, but not being technically savvy, it doesn`t mean an awful lot to me! Hopefully my son will call round soon, maybev he`ll figure it out.

Have you got a password for i player? It no longer works unless you have signed in.

We`ve solved the problem by buying a firestick.
