Syncing I tunes purchases to old I Pod

I've not used this I Pod for some years so not sure if that is the problem.
I am trying to sync all the new purchases to the old I Pod.

I've checked out on Google but what is suggested I don't have on the I Pod or my computer.

I tried to copy and paste but there is no copy in the drop down menu.
I've tried to sync via the summary nothing happens.
I've tried to drag and drop and although it shows one being moved it doesn't show in my I Pod.

Any suggestions.
Thank you

Have you got an apple store nearby?

Could it be that the older iPod is just too old?

Their software changes so much that the new purchases may not be compatible with the older ipod.

I don’t know if you can still do this but attach the following link that is from 2015:- 9to5mac.com/2015/02/10/legacy-support-after-14-years-the-first-ipod-still-syncs-to-the-latest-version-of-itunes/

Its interesting how that sort of problems still happen on a regular basis. Such an expensive product, such a huge company and yet such unreliability. I wish you good luck.
