I use it for all sorts of things.
There is a really easy way of putting in a duvet cover,
how to repot orchids , all sorts of things.
I haven’t tried tapping!

Great tips thank you.
I always recommend YouTube to people who have any sort of mechanical/technical problem. Even if you can’t fix the problem yourself, you know what questions to ask.

Just to let you know I'll be emailing Webster (Oldie) to thank him for that tip and mention your comments and that there may well be some more subscribers to his Newsletter!? smile
I always like to express appreciation of such efforts.
Cheers

The space bar trick works perfectly, but the comma and full stop don't
The comma and full-stop work OK on my desk-top, but adjusting the settings also changes the sound track speed which isn't very useful!
But you're right Squiffy; GN is very useful for exchanging tips and tricks; it could be even more useful if more members participated rather than lurk! hmm
I'm now practicing this new skill on the chip fryer thread! grin
Many thanks everyone. OoRoo

I have found, when watching a You Tube video, that by tapping the screen, you can go backwards or forwards in 10 second increments.
Tap on the left side to go back, and right side for forward.
At least it does on my IPad.
Very helpful when doing a new crochet pattern.?

If I say it several times to myself I may remember
(Or not)

Rufus and Calli Just got to remember to use this trick now! wink My brain's like a colander . . .

Callistemon Mon 25-Nov-19 13:13:13

Oh, thanks squiffy
I was going to try on the desktop, looking at the instructions on a mobile!

Squiffy Mon 25-Nov-19 12:20:17

Rufus This is why I like GN - it's a mine of information from posters! Thank you for that info. smile

I've just tried it on my desktop and it's slightly different. The space bar trick works perfectly, but the comma and full stop don't.

I thought I'd try the arrow keys instead and they did the trick!

Callistemon Mon 25-Nov-19 12:17:18

Thanks Rufus
I was trying to learn a craft using YouTube and this will be a great help.

All I need to do now is sit with your instructions in front of me on a different device!

Everyone probably knows this,, but just in case! I didn't until today thanks to The Oldie mag.
Question:
I use YouTube videos to help with DIY. It's easy to find someone demonstrating the skill I need to use, but often they move through the stages too fast. Can I slow them down?
Answer:
I do the same thing, and it's very helpful, but you often need to watch the video several times, stopping and starting.
I've discovered that you can watch the videos frame by frame. Simply use the space bar to pause the video at any point, then press the full stop key to advance it frame by one frame - or the comma key to go backwards one frame.
Alternatively, you can slow down the actual playback speed of a YouTube video. Tap the Settings cog at the bottom right of the player. Choose the "playback speed" option and you will find you can slow down (or speed up) the footage substantially.
