Hello everyone!
I have a private tutor for my computer and phone set up through iSkills.club. She teaches me online how to do all sort of things.
I've had a session on how to set up my emails on the Apple Mail app on my MacBook Air that my son gave me 2 months ago. It's a bit old. Yesterday, she helped me set up Skype with my family that I now can't see in person on a regular basis.

I like working with her and I want to know how to master all the basics on my computer and phone.
What are the best basic things that are worth knowing how to do on the Macbook Air and/or iPhone?

I need suggestions for what to do in the next session with her. I'm a very basic user of technology.

I guess learning how to download your own apps from the app store in line with your interests. But you’re on GN so you know that already right ?
Maybe a lesson on how to use safari and You Tube ?
And how to use google to ask how to do everything else?

Thank you Geminil7892, I actually struggle with Apps, so that's a very good idea! Any Apps that you find useful?

I think I'd ask for help saving and finding documents and email attachments on the Mac. This will mean beginning to understand the Mac's filing system, many struggle with this.

Also, understand the difference between mobile data and wifi on your iPhone, how and when to turn them on and off and set up your contacts.

You could start with
BBC Sounds ,
Iplayer
You Tube ?

I agree I can do most of the basic things like googling and email , etc but saving , filing and adding attachments is proving very frustrating. My vegetable delivery man asked me to complete an email him an online order form, well it must have taken me three go's and even then it was more by luck , to do it. Changing to PDF and other such instructions, I was way in over my head !!

I think a lot of people would love to learn how to use technology to help during lockdown.

Maybe GNHQ could help?

I use copy and paste a lot since I discovered how to do it.
