Hello all,

My Hotmail email on my Kindle Fire has suddenly decided I need a password to access it confused no idea why, it was fine earlier.

I've tried the one that I thought was right, but if course it isnt. angry

Googled for a solution, but the directions given are no help at all.

it might be a scam.i got a kindle fire and i have to sign into amazon to access anything.(thats where it was bought)... i would look up what they have asked you on google and see what the answer is .better still write it on here .and someone can look it up for you...

Thanks moggie

I've had this kindle for quite a while, it's usually fine.

The solution on Google is:

On home screen, tap email icon.
In menu, go to settings, then accounts.
You will need to enter password into both incoming and outgoing,
Tap done.

(That is a sort of precis of what it said)

It sounds like someone may have hacked into your account, and changed the password, unless you’ve just forgotten the password. Can you try logging on through a different device?( could be a friend’s device). There should be a help link to reset the password.

Try turning Kindle off, leave for 30 seconds or so and then turn back on. It worked for me.

Jalyn that was the first thing I did grin

Toadinthehole Could try asking Mr P to try from his phone. We have passwords logged in an index book, and I've tried using the one from there, but no luck (even accounting for the fact that Mr P wrote this one down, and I can't always tell from his writing what's an I and what's a 1)

Emails are coming in to my phone, so it seems to be just the kindle that's playing silly b*ggers.

Still not able to access email on kindle sad

Is there a “forgotten password” to click on under the bit where you sign in? Then you can just reset it.

I don’t like the way the different gadgets pick up information from each other. Could surely cause problems if confidential info is passed on.

Hi Phoenix
Just had a thought about your post, try switching off your devices for 30 seconds and then switch on again and retry as sometimes these devices get in a muddle as they are trying to go too much at once and this usually clears them and restarts a Fred you won’t lose anything. This usually works for me and my OH is well up on I T. Good luck hope it helps.

Sussexborn sadly, no.

Maggie68 have tried that, as mentioned in previous post!

Different devices don't learn passwords from each other. Your email sever needs a single ID (your email address) and a password to access it. So you will enter the same password on each device, the device then sends that password to the server which allows you read your emails.

It may be that your password on your Kindle may have been corrupted somehow and now you don't know how to add it back so the Kindle can show you your emails. It sounds as if you have forgotten your password (it must be exact, upper and lower case letters are different).

However, your phone still holds the current email password in its memory. If you change your password on the hotmail account, you will have to put the new password on any devices you use to access it.

You could try resetting your password using your mobile phone to read the reset link. You will have to log on to your Hotmail account, giving your email address but when Hotmail ask for your password, click on the forgotten password link. If you are lucky, you may get an email on your mobile phone allowing you to reset your password.

If you can reset your password, you will need to re-add it to your Kindle and mobile phone. Some email providers ask you for a recovery email. It may be worth considering getting another email address with a different provider for this purpose.

You have to remember that there is a lot of information in your emails. It is important to take security seriously, passwords are so important.

I've just had this issue with Hotmail - I have it on several devices and computers but it wouldn't let me sign in on a different one. I logged in online via MSN to check the password was correct first and then tried again and it finally worked. If you do it online you can change your password which might be worth doing for security.

?

I'm getting so frustrated!

It's been fine for ages, then suddenly throws a hissy fit and wants a password!

Might seem a bit unimportant, but I need it for my work emails, as working from home.

Don't know if this might help?

Hello all,

Many thanks for the responses.

Well, it seems to have sorted itself , well, for now at least! confused

I can now send and receive emails from my Kindle, although the warning thing still pops up occasionally, but by tapping "cancel" it goes away!

Strange!!!!
