Thank you for the reply Pamela
Tea3 that situation could be quite unsettling for some.

Thanks Pamela.
I think the NHS has made it clear that they never ask for bank details so hopefully most people would realise at that point.
But the actual details of the NHS logo, colours etc make it look authentic & some people will be taken in sad

Thanks Hetty58. Yes, we did so and put the word around the neighbourhood.

PamelaJ1 Tue 26-Jan-21 14:08:03

Namsnanny and Jane
If you click on the accept or decline button it asks for bank account details.
Unfortunately because I clipped the photo to get rid of my sisters details I also clipped the email address it came from and I can’t remember it now.

That's terrible, Tea3, and worthy of a call to the police, too!

The confusion surrounding C19, from official sources, makes it easy to be fooled by that one, Pamela.

In our area we got an official leaflet saying that GPs would be sending letters about appointments.

In fact you have to phone to make the appointment, after seeing in the local press who is eligible.

So it would be easy to believe that message is now what they're doing.
Very nasty.

Beware someone at the door with a large envelope or small parcel and clipboard ie pretending to be a delivery person to get you to open the door. No mask, didn’t put the parcel down and stand back, and then tried to sell Mr T a new boiler. When that didn’t work he showed a list of claims we could make including universal credit (the only one that caught Mr T’s eye before he got the door closed). In yesterday’s paper it mentioned pretend parcel delivery men in another part of the country forcing their way into an 84 year old’s house! I shall be shouting through the door, ‘Leave it on the step’, from now on.

I just put the phone down on any automated call. But I have had a bit of fun in lockdown with the scam callers telling me various things about my phone or intermet service. I play the part of a rather confused old lady just to see how long I can keep them on. I repeat things they say, tell them I'm not sure what they mean, ask them to repeat things, pretend I can't do things and generally just stall them. On one call. I got a bit fed up when he told me he would give me time to find something on my computer and hung up. He rang back apologising for us being cut off! They obviously think they're onto an easy number grin

So far this week HMRC are after me and now I have been paying someone new from a bank account I don’t have!

janeainsworth Tue 26-Jan-21 13:47:04

I got this text message purportedly from EE today.
I didn’t click on the link but checked my account directly on the website and surprise! Payment made a few days ago.
At first sight it looked very convincing.

janeainsworth Tue 26-Jan-21 13:44:25

Yes I thought that Namsnanny - why is it a scam Pamela?

Namsnanny Tue 26-Jan-21 13:42:17

Goodness PamelaJ1 that looks ok at a quick glance.
Is there anything to identify that it's a scam?

PamelaJ1 Tue 26-Jan-21 13:32:31

This is also a scam.

That BT scam has been going for a while where I live. Another is telling you that you have had a car accident. As annodomini says, put the phone down. Nasty, unscrupulous people.

annodomini Tue 26-Jan-21 13:26:41

I had a call this morning claiming to be from Amazon, about my Prime subscription. Just put the phone down.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 26-Jan-21 12:07:57

An automated call, from 01876 807061

Dialling code is from Outer Hebrides, various numbers all with the same dialling code have been received over the years by others ( and all on a Google search) purporting to be from BT.
We pay by Direct Debit, but you might get caught if you are a bit late receiving your Telephone Bill at the moment due to Postal delays.

Obviously just put the phone down.

Annoying, but be alert people, they are out to get you......
