Not myself but my friend has been to the same place in Italy the last three years. Cookery etc in the mornings and afternoons to do as they please. She teaches Italian as a language here so loves it over there.

Sometimes The Lady magazine advertises different holiday courses abroad, if not maybe choose the country you prefer first then if the actual course isn't to your liking at least you'll be in a beautiful setting!

The university of Sienna in Italy does short courses in Italian language and culture outside of the normal University terms. You can do online courses with Future Learn and then they advertise their residential classes you can sign up to. I’d love to do that as it’s a beautiful city.

At 56 years old and retired, I like to have the stimulus of learning when I am not looking after BGD. Having finished Horticulture and Garden Design qualifications and designing my own garden, I now want a new challenge. I have been looking into learning a language abroad; I am often on my own when my husband does his cycling holidays with the MAMILs, love that he has a passion. Don’t want the commitment of a night school programme as it’s limiting on the diary and I love residential courses, having done many over the years when I was a businesswoman. Has anyone experienced such courses or have any other suggestions? I want it to be comfortable and age appropriate but not extortionate. I want to meet new people to learn with in a great environment. Do you know any websites with good holidays for me on my own which have a similar age demographic and are not for explorers? Have travelled so extensively I don’t want to just kick around eating and drinking and sightseeing, even though I like to do these things.
