Sorting new phone out, checking apps work. I now have a travel QR code on my phone in the NHS app (not NHS Covid app). Wasn’t there about a week ago, but both vaccinations were.

Ashcombe Thu 10-Jun-21 21:55:03

Yes, I have this on my phone, too.

Jaxjacky Thu 10-Jun-21 22:04:16

I’d not noticed until now..remarkably unobservant me!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 10-Jun-21 22:04:33

Just checked mine, couldn’t see a travel QR code m, whereabouts is it in the app?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 10-Jun-21 22:08:12

Sorry forget previous post, just found it.

Not sure I am entirely happy with this app?
Constantly changing, more intrusive than an ID card (in my opinion)

not all of us have or have them but don`t use them
phones.. smart phones now I believe they are called
I have two old ones, kept for emergency

I didn't realise that you had started this thread Jacky before now.
I should have looked at it before I started my vaccine thread.
This thread is in the newsletter today, so will get lots of traffic

Best to print out all relevant information if going to France. Actually saves time and the French love paperwork :-)

GrannyGravy13 Sat 12-Jun-21 11:59:44

I would just like to dust off my passport and be able to travel!
Renewed it last April and it hasn’t been out of its envelope yet.

Nannapat1 Sat 12-Jun-21 13:25:05

Can't find QR code, although details of both vaccinations are there. Perhaps it's because I have proceeded with the 'agree to share' process yet?

Me too!
I do, though, have the little cards they issued with the shots, which I have laminated.

Nanatoone Sat 12-Jun-21 13:56:14

Frankly I don’t mind as when travelling I’d prefer to travel with vaccinated people rather than the refuseniks

Bakingmad0203 Sat 12-Jun-21 14:09:20

Anyone know if Wales NHS have the same app? I stupidly spent 10 minutes downloading and putting my information into the NHS England app and then got a message to say there was an error.?

Daftbag1 Sat 12-Jun-21 14:37:31

Yikes, no idea what this is about; maybe because I don't have a phone, just an old tablet. I do have the little card, does that work?

Jaxjacky Sat 12-Jun-21 15:14:44

Explained here:

The problem with the little cards is that they’re easy to forge, this isn’t, hopefully.

Its interesting that we've just had texts from our GP's practice asking if we are willing to share all our information held in the NHS. I wonder if this is what it was about?
I've got no objection to sharing any of my info nor of having some sort of vaccination passport. Nothing against ID cards either, I have nothing to hide and can see no reason not to have one.

Sharing information was the subject of a thread on Gransnet but I can’t remember the title.

The government have decided to input all our data into a data base to be used for research. The BMA amongst others have objected as they are not satisfied that our data will be safe. The government have put of the action until September. What the government haven’t said is that they have already been negotiating to sell this data to private companies. It is rumoured that the NHS will the have to buy the information produced from the research. I have decided to opt out of this. You would need to print off a form and take it to your doctor’s if you do not wish your data to be harvested. If you opt out your data can still be shared should you need treatment.

I have no objection to sharing my data for the public good but not for it to be sold on. Perhaps you need to investigate further?

Pippins6133 Sat 12-Jun-21 16:01:27

cc Please check before you allow your data to be shared! It seems that the Government’s end game is to sell it off so there will be no NHS. You must print the form off and send/take to your GP. The deadline has been extended from 21st June to September. I think it’s because they were trying to get this through ASAP, before people were aware of it and many are in uproar about it now.

MaggsMcG Sat 12-Jun-21 16:16:39

Rubbish. It's got nothing to do with selling the NHS what they are likely to sell is the data they have that allows targeted advertising. ie if you have diabetes then devices that claim to make life easier but cost a fortune coz the NHS can't afford to give them for free.

Yep, got this on my iPad. I do have a smart phone but find it very difficult to use due to visual and physical impairments. I have a basic Nokia for calls and texts and an iPad mini that goes with me when I’m traveling.

The vaccination cards they gave out cannot be used as proof of vaccination as they do not have your name on,so it could belong to anyone.

If going to/through France make sure all test results are in English, my brother came back from Poland a few weeks ago and they refused to accept his negative test as it was in Polish. He had to stay two nights and take another one (which was free but he had to pay to stay in a b/b.

My card has my name on it!
