Anyone else think the BBC spent too much time on this subject, from first thing early morning to headlines on One O'clock news?!! And now on News Night.

Well, it is Man United isn't it? And he was the chosen one of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Odd how they stopped winning just because the manager changed. confused

I think it's a pity it was leaked and announced on the BBC before Moyes was told himself.

Deedaa Tue 22-Apr-14 23:12:40

It was a pity but seems typical of the way these things are done.

My son and grandson are Man Utd fans. A miserable day!

seasider Wed 23-Apr-14 00:23:02

Not a Man Utd fan but this is a knee jerk reaction and very wrong. This type of behaviour is not expected from the world's biggest football club!

I am a MUFC fan, it was instilled by my mother, much against our dad's wishes, as we grew up. When the reds were playing, she even made red and white teas to eat as we watched the game. Rumours have been rife in this area, where someone always knows someone who either plays for the team, or works at the ground and hears the gossip. It seemed pretty clear he'd go after the team played badly, and lost to Everton. I confess to enjoying the drama element of being a footi fan grin

I remember being shot down in flames when, on another subject, I admitted I was "agog with indifference". Doesn't even come close in this case <ducks for cover>grin

Soutra Wed 23-Apr-14 09:02:41

PS if only politicians could be judged by the same criteria and despatched with equal immediacy...hmm (I've got a little list and they'd none of them be missed).

Iam64 Wed 23-Apr-14 09:04:22

Oh, there's a plan Soutra.

whenim64 Wed 23-Apr-14 09:06:36

My indifference matches yours, Soutra. Most of the males in my extended family are United fans. My son decided to stay at home when he went to uni, so he could keep his part-time job with United! Great that they get some fresh air once a week, but football leaves me cold.

annodomini Wed 23-Apr-14 10:10:14

It seems significant that, since David Moyes left Everton, his old club has done rather better than his new one. hmm

janerowena Wed 23-Apr-14 11:33:46

When it comes to sport and me, DBH is in despair - he came home last night to find me asking what Chris Moyles had done wrong.

ninathenana Wed 23-Apr-14 11:36:44

Amen to both your posts Soutra

Aka Wed 23-Apr-14 12:06:49

I'm not just indifferent but annoyed that this was the lead item on last night's early evening news. With everything going on in the world how on earth is this justified?

Grannyknot Wed 23-Apr-14 12:20:46

I'm not a football fan or know much about it, but the way this matter has been handled is atrocious.

whenim64 Wed 23-Apr-14 13:12:45

There's an allegation of insider dealing from the American Stock Exchange, because people were gossiping about Moyes getting the sack for a day or so before it was officially announced and United's shares went up. Wonder if it has foundation?

Lona Wed 23-Apr-14 14:56:09

The males in my family either play or have played, rugby, thank goodness.
Except my sil. he definitely doesn't count anymore!

annsixty Wed 23-Apr-14 15:02:54

I had been told when that the announcement was delayed until the American Stock Exchange had closed .I did not know whether it was true but thought it extremely cruel to DM to keep him in the dark.

whenim64 Wed 23-Apr-14 15:43:14

I think they're referring to the widespread gossip that had been circulating this weekend, annsixty. Don't know if they can prove anything, but it seems some traders made a killing, buying low and selling when the shares shot up.

durhamjen Thu 24-Apr-14 00:01:33

I do not understand why people who are indifferent bother to post on a thread. Surely there are other threads you can post on. The clue was in the title.

durhamjen Thu 24-Apr-14 00:03:02

Not talking about you, JaneR. That was funny.

geeljay Thu 24-Apr-14 00:52:17

Loosely follow the sport via news and sports pages. My only feeling is he was let down by his highly paid players. Be interesting to see if they will put in more effort for team mate Giggs.

Aka Thu 24-Apr-14 05:52:35

Well perhaps we're entitled to say just that Jen ...hard though it may be for you to understand.

Aka Thu 24-Apr-14 05:55:39

You see, because we're indifferent we find it hard to understand how the BBC spends so much time on this hmm the clue being in the OP.
