Just listening to the omni version this morning and wondering what other soap opera themes are going to surface from the previously calm surface of our Borsetshire lake. What with the breathless passion and hot personals between rustic rampant Roy and the entwining posh Elizabeth, not to mention Freddy's fling with the green, green grass of home, farming is becoming just a distant memory. I can't handle all this, Roy...avert your gaze, please, Laydeeze...did Freddy catch us 'in flagrente'? Tears, tears, again. What's up, Mum? You alright, Roy? Hayley's getting worried now and Freddy's about to deliver a bombshell. All we need is Bianca and Rickayyyyyyyyyyyy!

suebailey1 Sun 31-Aug-14 11:38:43

I worried about Mowgli!

Mishap Sun 31-Aug-14 11:43:29

It's not what it used to be. Sigh.

But....hang on a minute.......didn't Jennifer get up to a fair bit of shennanigans in her time..........and her DD (name forgotten) whom Roy deflowered....and we had problem drinkers (Jack).........and clandestine abortions...and a rape?

Perhaps it has not changed so much after all. Could it be I am just getting older?

papaoscar Sun 31-Aug-14 12:09:38

Ahhh...those were the days, Mishap Good old-fashioned country pursuits conducted with a stiff upper lip!

papaoscar Sun 31-Aug-14 12:15:17

Looking forward sueB1, to Linda's reaction to the young loin-clothed feral Mowgli hunting and tracking with his wolves around her pristine acres. How will she explain all this to the Parish Council and the Vicar, let alone to Constable Harrison?

grumppa Sun 31-Aug-14 14:50:13

Quite right Mishap, but at the moment there seem to be too many themes running at once: Rob the control freak, Jennifer's inheritance, the future of Brookfield, Elizabeth's fling with Roy, the senior Tuckers' projected move to Birmingham, Shula's son's military career, the Aldridges' contract with Borsetshire land.... And I'm sure I've missed some out.

Deedaa Sun 31-Aug-14 20:52:15

I know it's about 8 years since I listened to the Archers but out of all the names that have been mentioned I only recognise Jennifer and Shula confused

merlotgran Sun 31-Aug-14 21:01:07

Has Rob been secretly feeding Henry a diet of e numbers so his thuggish behaviour gets him excluded from nursery school?

Mishap Sun 31-Aug-14 21:17:00

Is Jess pregnant??

Galen Sun 31-Aug-14 21:21:04

What? jessM? ?
Are you?
You might of let us know!!!!!

Gracesgran Sun 31-Aug-14 21:23:00

We have been through this before when a new editor arrives and decides it needs a faster pace. It tends to calm down again after a while. I don't find the Roy/Elizabeth story at all believable but the new road sounds quite possible.

I have a feeling Carole (that's the return of Carole Tregorran after all these years for those who used to listen in the past) will come back and rent Jill's cottage and we could then see more sparks fly.

I'm still waiting for Charlie's love interest to surface I think it will be Adam. And you have forgotten about Fallon and the policeman and his arresting her Dad at Locksfest. Will they won't they and Little Beth's schooling and her Dad retiring ...there's just so many story lines I usually have to listen to the evening one and the omnibus to keep up.

grumppa Sun 31-Aug-14 21:46:22

I think it's time Linda Snell became irresistibly attracted to the senile earthiness of Joe Grundy and started secret trysts with him in the Cat and Fiddle.

Anne58 Sun 31-Aug-14 22:16:00

Galen I am in shock at your post of 21.21 shock I would never have thought you could do that!

Iam64 Mon 01-Sep-14 09:14:04

What's going on with shula's husband, the vet? He is never home, has a history of gambling - but, is he having an affair?
What is Rob doing to Henry to encourage violent behaviour? (well, apart from creating an emotionally abusive environment for the poor little lad to live on)
I caught up with the omnibus whilst driving yesterday, and loved the Mowgli scenes
I love the Archers - it's a real backdrop to sorting out the evening meal, clearing up midday, but best of all enjoyed on the Sunday omnibus grin

suebailey1 Mon 01-Sep-14 09:17:47

Yes I think Robs ex is preggers.

shysal Mon 01-Sep-14 09:18:20

Me too!

Iam64 Mon 01-Sep-14 09:35:22

I spent the weekend with a group of pals, 17 of us, the majority of us Archers fans. The consensus was yes, Jess (Rob's wife) is pregnant

Gracesgran Mon 01-Sep-14 12:42:24

Me too on the Rob's ex scenario.

Haley hasn't said anything about the locket. Has she given the envelope to Roy?

papaoscar Mon 01-Sep-14 13:00:21

Yes, iam64, I've heard a whisper about that but linking the prospective father to a hologramed clone of slimy Nelson, son of Walter (Me old pal, me old beauty!) Gabriel. After all old Walt was always keen to get his corny feet under somebody else's table, preferably female, and his son was even worse. Certainly the Ambridge ladies have never been known for their fidelity (something in the water, perhaps, or the lack of zip in their menfolk) so perhaps we should not be surprised at all these goings on. Talking about zip I suspect that young Roy is about to have his ripped out by Haley, now that his tacky little golden heart has been returned by the snooty Elizabeth.

Mishap Mon 01-Sep-14 13:27:43

Zip-ripping? - I can hardy wait!!

Nanabelle Fri 05-Sep-14 00:03:40

A pregnant Jess tonight! ah ha, now the cat is among the pigeons!

chloe1984 Fri 05-Sep-14 18:40:15

I simply can't wait for tonight's episode will Hayley finally ask Roy what the heck is going on? Will Helen at last wake up to the fact that she is living with a lying, manipulative toad? Will Mike tell Vicki to get a grip and he is not going to be moving anytime soon? Also will Fallon finally fall into bed with the local law enforcer.? But more importantly will Ruth bring her Mum home to live with them all and will she and Jill fight over the aga? Or is it about time I got out more?

papaoscar Sun 07-Sep-14 13:24:35

So will Helen launch a thousand whips on the slippery Rob over the alleged paternity issue with wife Jess the Nasty? Has Helen rumbled at last Roy's furtive, sweaty fumblings with Elizabeth? Will it result in a grand finale of insult-hurling and tantrums? Will Holy-Joe the Vicar don his blue helmet and intercede with bell, book and candle? Will Linda be pleased with Montezuma in place on Mowgli? Ain't it all exciting!

Nelliemoser Sun 07-Sep-14 14:25:57

papaoscar The rantings of a true Archers fan! grin
I am not sure after Friday's edition whether or not Helen is beginning to suspect Rob is not entirely reliable.

The trouble is she is such a needy person it is going to b difficult for her to accept the unacceptable truth about Rob.

Listen tonight at 7pm
