The BBC ain't broke but the current government seem to be on a mission to damage it. Sticking up for the commercial channels - its not fair if the BBc complete on a Saturday night. Completely pathetic.

Not sure why the BBC shouldnt compete on a saturday night.

Right wing think the BBC is too left wing and the left wing thinks its too right wing. That must mean they've got it about plumb centre!

I have always understood that the BBC
and the commercial companies were
designed to be in healthy competition with each other.

The right wing mantra has
always been, "Let the Market decide."
We, the public, have the choice of watching
whichever offering appeals to us.
I have a strong preference for viewing
TV without commercials, so I watch BBC and, thanks to modern advances, I simply record commercial programs, and skip the ads.
It seems that Mr Whittingdale isn't prepared to listen to the Market when
it is telling him something he doesn't
want to hear.

All ITVs got to do is put their programme -any programme on peak times and then claim immunity from the BBC. What a load of rubbish.

There's no thought of the viewers here at all is there? No Strictly on Saturday nights and no Poldark on Sunday nights would leave me with nothing for the weekend because there's very little I watch on the other channels. But that's the Government all over isn't it? They don't listen to us about the NHS, they don't listen to us about schools, why bother to listen about the BBC?

If we're talking about Saturday night programmes, ITV regularly gets far more viewers than the BBC.

We record most programmes anyway, so the timing hardly matters.
