An anecdote to the throw away culture
Nestled down in the British country side is The repair Shop.

A place where broken and battered treasures are brought back to life.
BBC 2 6.30pm.

Just discovered this programme last week.
The restorers (some quite young) do truly wonderful work.
The public who bring the items for repair generally have very interesting stories to tell regarding their treasures.

It is a joy to see the transformation and the look on the owners face when they see the (often very sympathetic) restoration.

I have watched this a few times and have been amazed by the results they get. It’s nice to know that such craftsmanship still flourishes. I liked the one at Christmas time with the amazing restoration of the very battered nativity figures.

We love it. No time to watch them all sadly but there’s something calming and almost therapeutic watching the craftsmen bring treasured items back to life.

Not seen this before but just watched yesterdays after reading this. What talented people working there. That elephant was so lovely when they'd restored him and that clock beautiful. The young chap made a great job of the desk. Shall be watching more.

It is a restful and satisfying programme, but I am dying to find out what each repair costs.
