The Crown

This has probably been done before but, hey-ho.

DD gave me the dvds for Christmas. Very good from a history point of view, and very watchable, but no way do I believe the Duke of Edinburgh was the miserable, nasty, whining brat they are making him out to be. And neither did he have a slight squint to one of his eyes. Dr Who, I mean Matt Smith, is totally wrong for the part and it is driving me mad. I always thought Prince Phillip was handsome. In fact, I know he was. I've seen the pictures for years!

It's driving me mad.

Wonder how much of the rest of it is really factual.

I loved 'The Crown'. I don't like Matt Smith playing Prince Philip but I do think that he would be highly likely to find the life, the role itself, pretty restrictive and hard for a red blooded naval man to put up with. I suspect he's pretty awful in real life. Another cross for Her Majesty to bear!

I loved the crown, but looked at it from an entertainment point of view as opposed to historical facts.

Can't wait for the next series. Different cast so I wonder how long it will take to get used to them?

I loved it and watched it through twice. I try to suspend disbelief and just watch it as a show. I thought they were all pretty good - loved Princess Margaret.

Agree about Princess Margaret Teetime. She is spot-on.

I loved it too, looking forward to the next series and the "changeover." Personally, I thought Matt Smith made a pretty good Philip, probably a better likeness than that of Claire Foy to the Queen, although undoubtedly her performance was incredible, hence all the accolades.

Top quality production and acting. The historic facts speak for themselves but the 'behind closed doors' personalities & conversation can only be based loosely on bigographies & diaries written by people who had access to the family. Impossible to get "lookalikes" for the roles who can also act..unless very lucky! I thought casting did well and all looked approximately like their character! Thoroughly enjoyable. Looking forward to the next series.
