63 Up - starts tomorrow evening on ITV

I know, I can’t wait

I feel like I know and care about them all

I’ve never watched 7up but this time round it’s being recorded. Odd I haven’t seen it as I am 63, the same age as the participants.

I too have watched every programme in this series. I can still picture some of the little 7 year olds. I was nearly 13 when it started and was fascinated by it. But yes, it is sad as well, isn't it? A sombre reminder to us all of the passage of time.

I agree Sara65, a fascinating and important series of programmes. I remember watching the first one of the series on our black and white, rented TV in our first house. I'd just started teaching and had a class of 42 seven year olds so it was all very relevant. Having just watched the preview programme tonight I'm looking forward to seeing the sixty three year olds tomorrow night.

Neil was the one I worried about most. He was such a lovely, happy little boy at 7, and then things went wrong for him. Not sure why. I wondered if he perhaps lost his Mum early on, as he really changed. I hope he is doing OK.

Yes, Neil was my favourite. Then things went wrong and for many of the programmes he seemed so unhappy. Judging from tonight's preview programme though he seems to have found his niche.

Fascinating programme - can't wait to watch it again.

I shall be glued to the screen too. I have been following this programme from the very beginning.

I watched later programmes and they did have 'catch-ups' on their earlier years. There was a programme on this evening where some well-known people were commenting on the previous programmes which gave a good refresher into previous episodes.

I worried about Neil - he seemed such a happy, carefree little 7 year old, and about Simon who didn't have a great start in life but has come through it all with a desire to help others.

My favourite was Nick and I have never forgotten what he said when he was 7:
"When I grow up I want to go to the moon" in his strong Yorkshire accent
and he went on to work at NASA, I believe.

I thought I d watched this all the way through but we didn’t even have a tv in ‘64 so I could not have and ‘71 I wasn’t even in the country so have there been repeats over the years as I definitely remember them as little 7 year olds and 14 year olds

I watch very little tv these days but I'm really looking forward to watching 63 Up. Like others, I always felt particularly fond of Neil; he was such a bright and happy little boy but life seemed to have ground him down by 56 Up.
Does anyone know how many episodes are in this current series?

I love this series. I am 60, so they are 3 years older than me, so I relate to them and I watch (with increasing trepidation) to see what the next few years may have in store for me!
My sister and I took inspiration from it and interviewed and recorded all of our children aged 7. (We tried to do it at 14 too, but without much success!) It's lovely to look back at the seven year olds though.

I doubt I watched it in 64 or 71 because I wasn't here. So it must have been the repeats. Looking forward to tomorrow. Set the timer as well for recording

I feel like I’ve watched it from the very beginning, but I doubt that I did, I think they show so many clips of earlier programs, that you think you saw every episode.

Strange that we only meet them every seven years, but feel such a fondness for them all

I 'm sure some of them must be "over it" by now. It must be very intrusive for them, knowing that people all over the world are watching and wanting to know what they've been doing.

We've watched all the series although at 65 I think we probably saw repeats of the first two. I've known my husband since we were 11 and both he and I likened him to Tony

Stella they don’t have to take part, and some of them don’t. I think Michael Apted has been very sensitive about not crossing the line into intrusion.

It’s on tonight, tomorrow and Thursday. We are an hour ahead in Spain - 10pm then. A late night then for me ha!

I've seen them all to date. Age 7 most of them were very endearing and in the case of the two Barnardo boys so poignant. Neil was probably the most bright eyed and bushy tailed of all of them, so it was quite upsetting to see his downward trajectory over the years, but I gather his situation has improved. Aged 7 contrasted sharply with the teen years, where some were the embodiment, as indeed we probably all were, of all that teen angst, although Tony appeared at that time quite self assured I thought.

They are pretty much my age so for me it catalogues quite well the aging process, I expect some of it will touch on possible aches and pains and health tonight. Sadly one of the 3 London girls died a couple of years ago a sharp reminder of our own mortality

I do understand why a couple of the original participants have dropped out, signing up for such a documentary at age 7 is hardly making an informed choice and it is quite an intrusion having the eyes of the nation observing just how life has panned out. Nevertheless fascinating viewing quite groundbreaking before all the ghastly reality shows took hold and shaped some of the future generations behaviour in playing to an audience which does contrast with the "7 up" generation who appear to have remained true to themselves.

I also have watched them all and like others was charmed by Neil and so upset how his life turned out.

I am another who has watched from the beginning. I do hope things have improved for them all.I recorded last night's pre-programme but haven't watched it yet.

I too have followed this series from the start and have thoroughly enjoyed following the paths of these people. Such an interesting insight how their lives have panned out.
My favourite was that " little toughie " as he was when a child and the family man he became in the last series.
How these years have flown !
