Pleased to see This Country back Monday night BBC1, the third series. It's my guilty pleasure ?? I don't normally like a lot of swearing but after one of two episodes I just felt so sorry for Kerry and Kurtan I actually started to like them!
Kerry's parents are just so awful you can't help but feel sympathy for her. It's totally addictive! Anyone else here a fan of K&K?

Callistemon Sun 16-Feb-20 16:14:32

I like it, it's very funny, DH can't stand it.

Callistemon Sun 16-Feb-20 16:14:50

Ps because I don't think he gets it!!

Willynilly Sun 16-Feb-20 16:51:01

We still shout “Tomato!!” up the stairs when we want to call one another.

You’ll have to know the episode or I will seem bonkers to you grin

I have friends who won't even watch it Callistemon due to the bad language. Normally I might agree but I'm totally hooked! It has me in stitches sometimes, Kurtan always thinking he's so 'hard' when he's just not! And Kerry so over joyous when she got the Screwfix catalogue for her birthday.?

Another fan here.

Poor old Kerry, she just wants her dad's love.

Brother and sister Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper who play the lead parts are such good actors, Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe are so believable.

Very funny, I hope Series 3 is just as good as 1 & 2.

Love the naturalness of it. I worked with a few girls like Kerry. I just want to hug them! ?

Chestnut Sun 16-Feb-20 17:16:18

POGS they are totally believable, completely relaxed, you would think it really was a documentary film crew they're talking to as themselves.
They do remind me of Harry Enfield's characters Wayne and Waynetta for the 21st century! I used to love them too.

Love it. It iso different to other programs and sometimes they make you cry and other times you laugh whats not to like!!!][smile[

We both love it. DD2 can’t persuade SIL, though, he just doesn’t get it at all. DD reckons it’s because he was brought up in a city, not in a village like her and the Mucklowes. smile

SirChenjin Sun 16-Feb-20 18:31:23

Love love love this programme!

I don't think it's where he was brought up Maggie as I was brought up in London and I love it. We all have a different sense of humour. Some so-called comedies leave me cold whereas this has often has me howling with laughter. Like all great comedies it also has sadness. Remember Steptoe and Son, how heartbreaking it was that Harold couldn't get away from his old dad. It made you laugh and cry. This has the same quality.

Another fan here ( but not DH) different sense of humour.
I bought the first two series ( from Amazon).
I recognise where it’s filmed, I think it’s Northleach near Burford ( Cotswolds) as we looked at a house there when moving a few years ago.
The fact that Kerry worshipped her Dad and he would hardly give her the time of day was heartbreaking, although she herself can be awful at times, same as Kurtan.
I like the well meaning vicar ?
I think my favourite episode was the scarecrow festival.

ExperiencedNotOld Sun 16-Feb-20 19:43:23

I live in rural Wiltshire, it’s very much like village life can be here. Good people that don’t find quite such a good life.

Callistemon Sun 16-Feb-20 20:07:14

Yes I think it is Northleach.

twiglet77 Sun 16-Feb-20 20:38:46

I love this show. Kerry and Kurtan are siblings in real life and Kerry's father in the show is their real father. To portray their characters so brilliantly takes absolute genius, it's very, very funny. It's so sad that Michael Sleggs, who played Slugs, died last year.

Pittcity Sun 16-Feb-20 21:03:08

I love it too....."wtf is a falafel?"

Callistemon Sun 16-Feb-20 21:04:32

Have you not eaten a falafel, Pittycity?

Introduced to me by one of my DD who is rather 'woke'!

Callistemon Sun 16-Feb-20 21:05:08

Pittcity sorry!

Alishka Sun 16-Feb-20 21:12:03

I read that the first epi will be a tribute to Michael Sleggs.
There was a write up about Daisy and her bro. in this week's Radio Times.
And I love the vicar!grin

annep1 Sun 16-Feb-20 21:19:59

We both loved it. I hope the new series is as good. I love the shouting mum whom we never see.

Pittcity Sun 16-Feb-20 22:05:22

It's a This Country quote *Callistemon"
They're made of "peas that are s**t."

Callistemon Sun 16-Feb-20 22:11:31

Sorry Pittycity blush

It's been a while!!

tickingbird Sun 16-Feb-20 22:23:50

Best news I’ve had all day m. It’s brilliant. I’ve had to trxt my sons to let them know as we all love it.

My favourite episode was Kerry's birthday. She waited up until midnight for the 'Night Hawks' who would come online and wish her a happy birthday (except no-one did), then getting lost in the woods because the bus went past (thanks to Kurtan's previous trick on the bus driver) ? plus missing the steam fair. Her whole life is a series of disappointments.
