Just saw yesterday that there’s a new series, and, with the exception of the cricket commentator and the actress from Coronation Street, I had heard of them all!
Britt Ekland should have stayed away from the plastic surgeons, but they seem quite interesting.

Agree re Duncan's hair. A most unconvincing colour!

Calendargirl Fri 15-May-20 07:27:48

Thought last night’s episode was enjoyable. The cricket match with Henry commentating was an absolute delight. I was with Barbara in feeling tearful about how good he was with his little army of ageing cricket fans,

Britt has obviously targeted Duncan as the hunk of the group. She still sees herself as gorgeous as when she married Peter Sellars all those years ago, but good on her at 78.

They seem a very amiable group, all with different hopes and views on life and getting older.

Puzzler61 Fri 15-May-20 07:39:42

I watched last night and really enjoyed it.
I could almost feel the sticky heat and was amazed by the colours, the buildings, the street life and the overnight train trip and then there is the tranquility of the house and garden, yoga and worship.
This is a very amiable group Calendargirl, no stand-out, loud people. Britt has a lot to say but she doesn’t look for conflict (well not so far).

tanith Fri 15-May-20 08:10:50

I had to smile when Britt kept referring to Duncan as her ‘eye candy’, I did wonder if that’s why he pulled out of the train trip, but then he went how on earth did he get there so fast?
Also smiled when referring to her looks she said ‘I wouldn’t scare the children would I?’.
I’m thoroughly enjoying it though.

If Britt was chocolate she'd eat herself! Sad really. All she ever had was her looks and her marriage to Peter Sellers. She wasn't a very good actress. Goodness knows what the work she keeps referring to actually is.
Blowers and the cricket buffs were heart warming. That Nick Cotton one isn't endearing is he? Not surprised he lives on his own judging by his performance in the kitchen. I didn't fancy that meal much either. It would have been stone cold too after he took all those photos.

Paul Elliot seems to be finding the extreme heat more difficult to cope with than some of the others and I feel quite sorry for him. I'm finding Britt is becoming a bit embarrassing; the overly dramatic eyelash fluttering and clutching on to Bannatyne is becoming a bit cringey. I'm really liking Zara and Barbara's laid back, calm acceptance of all their new experiences.

Jane10 Fri 15-May-20 09:24:19

Especially in the heat I suppose Zandra's melting extreme make up makes her look ridiculous. She blended in quite well with all the wildly dressed and made up festival goers.
Thank goodness for Barbara Dick son.

travelsafar Fri 15-May-20 09:33:12

I think my favourites are Susie, Barbara { two apparently gentle ladies} and Blowers. He is such fun and i love the sound of his voice. Zandra is 'old school' down to earth with no airs and graces.

Calendargirl Fri 15-May-20 09:51:33

Jane10

She was a ‘Bond Girl’, did you not realise that?

I expect Diana Rigg, Ursula Andress, the late Honor Blackman, Jane Seymour et al still think of themselves as Bond Girls as well.

?

Puzzler61 Fri 15-May-20 09:57:16

I love your quip about Britt eating herself if she was chocolate Jane10 ?
I must remember and use that phrase.

Puzzler61 Fri 15-May-20 09:59:20

Loving this thread. It’s a bit like sitting on sofa’s chatting.
Like gogglebox ??

merlotgran Fri 15-May-20 09:59:28

Britt is definitely a good advert for staying away from cosmetic surgery. She looks positively grim and would definitely frighten the horses! grin

Babs758 Fri 15-May-20 10:03:56

Oh good, I hadn’t realised it has missed a week. I will catch up now. I really enjoyed the first one and agree about Duncan’s hair dye. At least he hasn’t a beard. I thought Susie was lovely in the first ep and is probably a good type of friend to have. Loving Zandra’s colour sense and style. I am fascinated by india And enjoyed the previous series. With this and my shameful enjoying of “Killing Eve” I am set :-)

Jane10 Fri 15-May-20 10:24:27

It's usually the quieter ones that I find most interesting. I wish they'd edit them in more than the larger characters that the producers fixate on.

Jane10 Fri 15-May-20 10:26:59

Calendar girl she'll not be getting more work as a Bond girl any time soon. I meant what work was she referring to at the astrologers. She said she wanted more work. James Bond's granny maybe? Miaow!!

Calendargirl Fri 15-May-20 12:45:26

I was being facetious Jane10 ?

James Bond’s granny? Well, that’s an idea. ??

I thought she made the astrologer’s job so easy, ‘I want to know about future work’, so hey presto, suddenly the stars and planets aligned with lots of job prospects.

I watched the last half of last night’s episode waiting for the news. What a super programme.
Duncan’s hair is just weird. Why?
Blowers is an absolute star.

DanniRae Fri 15-May-20 21:17:49

I don't think Duncan ever intended to rough it on the over night train - I expect with his money he was transported there by helicopter. I for one don't blame him - that train ride looked awful.
Loving the programme and how well they are all getting on....so far grin

Grandmafrench Fri 15-May-20 22:05:32

Britt Ekland has never shied away from the fact that "in her 50's" she sought out lip and other injections which ruined her looks. The stuff used was permanent and only in its early stages in cosmetic surgery. It's such a shame because the lower half of her face is very noticeable now and not in a good way.

I should imagine that being flirty at her age makes her feel a lot better and less invisible, but really don't think she is interested in finding a man - well, maybe a very rich one. Bannatyne is rich but supposedly very happy with his very much younger Wife. I don't feel he comes across as too try hard, but if he toned down the solid and very strange hair colour, he'd look so much better.

Love Zandra - for her slightly bonkers attitude. Hopefully there will be no contrived bickering or unpleasantness in what is an enjoyable programme. It's good to see a very mixed bunch of characters enjoying the sights and sounds of a lovely part of India.

EllanVannin Fri 15-May-20 22:31:06

It's a great programme with a good cast. I've really enjoyed them all up to now. Barbara Dickson is a lovely person but poor Brit is a sad one, though her hair is still lovely for her age.
Can just about tolerate " Nasty Nick " and Duncan but they could prove themselves, we'll have to see.

I felt sorry for the poor guy with the "Delhi belly ", that must be awful when you're away.

Love the old boy and Zandra, genuine and no side to them.

Luckygirl Fri 15-May-20 22:35:14

tanith - Also smiled when referring to her looks she said ‘I wouldn’t scare the children would I?’ - exactly as I did too!

She was describing how she likes to take care of her looks so as not to scare the children. Gosh - she lacks self-insight! - I find her lips scary and I am not a child!!! And for goodness sake leave that poor man alone!

I agree that it would be good to focus on the quieter ones - I love Barbara Dixon's voice and she seems a lovely person.

Beechnut Sat 16-May-20 06:53:14

I’m hoping Blowers will show us all his new colourful shirts.

Calendargirl Sat 16-May-20 07:54:06

I’m of the opinion Duncan took fright at the thought of the train trip . Perhaps he had visions that the group might end up one bed short, and Britt would drag him into her solitary bunk.
I think under the dour Scottish image, he’s a bit flattered but quite scared!

Jane10 Sat 16-May-20 10:12:29

We never heard hoe Duncan seemed to get there in no time yet it was a long overnight train journey for the others. hmm

rosekearsey Sat 16-May-20 10:18:37

What a lovely programme - heartily enjoying our generation living life joyful and India is so special. Last year had the chance to visit and fell in love with the place and the people. So glad I finally got there- sad to think I may not get back there again - time running out! Armchair travelling at least for a while now. Keep safe x
