Anyone else watching the above? I know its trash tv, but I look forward to it every year. My husband cant bear to be in the same room while I’m watching it!

I half-heartedly saw the last half hour because I was watching the new series of the Chateau which I love.
I only recognised a couple of them and because I was getting ready for bed I wasn't really into it.
I don't know why they don't give members of the public the choice to do it as these people don't need the money.

I cannot stand it so that solves my problem re what to watch.

Ellianne Mon 16-Nov-20 10:55:44

I love it.
That castle is enormous.

LauraNorder Mon 16-Nov-20 11:00:42

I did peek out of castle curiosity but even the wonderful Sir Mo won’t tempt me again. Didn’t know there was a new Chateau series, thanks for the heads up EV.

Ellianne Mon 16-Nov-20 11:02:25

Chateau is brilliant too!

Hetty58 Mon 16-Nov-20 11:02:39

It cheers me up no end to see them all suffering and screeching as the insects fall on them - great stuff!

We didn't watch it for years. I couldn't think of anything worse but one year in a bored moment we switched it on. Now we're hooked.

Charleygirl5 Mon 16-Nov-20 11:04:37

I prefer an early night, a good book and a cat who enjoys cuddles in her terms.

Smileless2012 Mon 16-Nov-20 11:06:39

I love itsmile.

WOODMOUSE49 Mon 16-Nov-20 11:08:24

I used to watch it but not the past 2 years. Not because I don't like it but more because I record a fair bit and have Netflix now. New hobby takes up a fair bit of of my time at this time of year.

Along the same lines my guilty pleasures are Strictly, Bake Off and the Masterchef programmes.

shock Should have previewed my last comment. Standards are slipping.

Dottynan Mon 16-Nov-20 11:15:47

I haven't watched it for a couple of years now but with this year being so rubbish I feel like losing myself in a bit of trash tv

tanith Mon 16-Nov-20 11:49:25

I always watched with DH he loved it so it’s sort of a bit of a comfort blanket thing for me it brings back memories of his chuckling at all the antics. There were a couple I had no clue about but it’s silly and trashy but quite funny at times I need something to lighten my mood on these dark lonely evenings.

merlotgran Mon 16-Nov-20 11:52:21

DH hates it so I'll watch it on Catch Up. I haven't seen it for years but am interested in how it will work in a castle rather than a so called 'jungle'.

Auntieflo Mon 16-Nov-20 11:53:26

We don't watch Celebrity, but I do have a bit of a thing for Gogglebox. DH loathes that.
I have recorded the new Chateau series, so will catch up this afternoon.

BlueBelle Mon 16-Nov-20 11:57:47

I too haven’t see it for years I think it was probably the Paul Burrel one that was one of the last ones I saw and must admit that bit was hilarious
I saw them arrive last night and there was only 4 I didn’t know two blokes and two women I might catch bits of it if nothing better to do but can’t say I m looking forward to it in any way

Gwyrch Castle was a fairy tale castle to me as a child but it was left to go to rack and ruin. I knew work had started renovating it so I was interested from that point. I'm a Celebrity, mostly I can take it or leave it, interesting ti see how it was tackled midst Covid.

DanniRae Mon 16-Nov-20 12:09:42

I love it and watch it every year - I don't know if it will have the same appeal this year but will give it a chance!

Lexisgranny Mon 16-Nov-20 12:14:45

I did watch last night, but mainly to see what they have done to the castle, which I am familiar with. I haven’t watched it for years. Unfortunately it drew my attention to the fact that my tolerance level has become cause for concern. There were two contestants that would have me reaching for the remote control. I might give it another shot, but with my finger at the the ready on the off switch.

I always watch it. I'm more fascinated by the relationships that form and how people often appear different from their public image once their guard us down.
I missed the sunshine somehow. I know its silly but it always seemed a burst of brightness in a dark autumn. I just felt a bit chilly and depressed last at last night's episode.
I reckon Shane Ritchie could win. He's a cheery chappie.

GrandmasueUK Mon 16-Nov-20 12:35:13

I usually record it and ff through the eating trials, which I dislike. As usual there are some ‘celebrities’ I’ve never heard of and some I have. I wonder what they are going to do about the final Cyclone Challenge, which always looks like so much fun. I’m sure I went to the castle with my family when I was young but unfortunately there is no-one to ask now.

Galaxy Mon 16-Nov-20 12:53:21

I like it, its comfort blanket tv. It all looks so normal, hugging and standing next to e

Galaxy Mon 16-Nov-20 12:54:12

hmm next to each other. It made me smile. I am afraid I found Shane Ritchie really irritating!

Sophiasnana Mon 16-Nov-20 13:09:36

Tanith. I’m the same. Listening to the theme music brings back strong memories for me. Ten years ago in November, my lovely sister was in a hospice with only weeks to live. My parents and I moved down to her house to be with her and spent every day in the hospice with her, going back to her house at night and pouring a glass of wine in front of celebrity jungle. It brought us a strange bit of light relief during what was an awful time.
