The Asda one drives me mad

The Asda ones, all of them, not just the Christmas ones.

I find the curly haired chap really annoying.

I was only thinking this morning how sad and sentimental they are. Then there’s the one with all the family coming round, can’t remember which one it was, not realistic at the moment.

We avoid ads by never watching TV live , except the news .
I can’t stand adverts and only want to watch the program.

I have only seen one Christmas Ad so far and that is JL on my iPad.

i don't like the asda advert with muzz and his real life family, although he is called sunny in the advert, but as someone pointed out to me.....you notice the advert so either way it is doing the job, the other advert that had complaints was the sainsbury advert about the family having to cope with christmas without the dad, lots of people do this every year and it has nothing to do with covid

Am afraid I m quite Scroogy about Christmas ads and mostly dislike them all
They are too sickly, far too expensive and too early
They don’t make me rush out to buy anything I m fed up with the blooming carrot already

I agree Bluebelle,on the whole they dont sit comfortably with me. I'm sure there will be some people out there for whom it will be Christmas as usual,but for many and for many reasons it will be very different this year. I remember the first John Lewis and where the little boy was excited for Christmas so he could give presents. It was origional and sweet. Since then it seems an all out competition to be the most sentimental! I dont think any of them could persuade me to buy something I wasnt going to buy anyone.
I think I liked this one because there was an element of reality. Christmas memories are about the little things,those that are silly,funny or bitter sweet.
There is another thread about Christmas Eve Boxes,another addition and expense! I'm sure in years to come the lucky childeren will remember the little traditions,reading a special story,snuggling up and watching a christmas movie,the scents and tastes of the season. Often the excess packaging will be forgotten.

I'm finding that all the supermarket/stores adverts for Christmas I've seen so far this year are incredibly saccharine. Pass the sick bucket, please. Oh, and some I think are rather tokenstic.

I must admit I normally avoid all adverts as record programmes. Probably just as well on ITV3 as they have particularly gloomy/sad ones!
Christmas adverts exist to sell us goods we probably dont need with a scenario that is an illusion for many.
I suppose usually we just let them get on with it! This year it feels slightly off kilter, but then so does the whole year?.

But this is the best. Not sure if anyone has seen this. It's for a company in Ireland and I think it's charming. Obviously low budget, it is far superior to the expensive ones done by the larger supermarkets

The ones that really amuse me are the perfume ads that come out every Christmas - invariably so ludicrous you just have to laugh. (Well, I do, anyway.)

The ”keeper of the remote control” in this house dislikes adverts so when we are (rarely) on a channel showing adverts he simply mutes the TV which I don’t mind or he switches briefly to another channel which drives me crazy.

I have one of those Onthenaughtystep1, mine switches channels, and just as his finger touches the button remarks very politely “You didn’t want to watch that did you.” If I reply that I did, he contritely says “I’m so sorry you should have said”. One thing that I can rely upon is that any ad with dogs on, will be left on, and there are some very cute ones at the moment.

I am loving the Macdonalds Forever Young advert. It features a grumpy boy who keeps his enjoyment of Christmas inside. It makes me feel a bit tearful!
