Anyone else watching this?
Somehow I missed all the earlier episodes, but they are all on BBC iPlayer starting from Series 1 and oh how I'm enjoying them! Half an hour of daily laughter is a real tonic at the moment. And having already seen the last few series I can promise they just keep getting better and better! This is just the funniest sitcom ever made.

Thank you for the recommendation Chestnut I like Lee Mack, very witty and clever.

Totally agree Chestnut Not Going Out is a big favourite with us.

LauraNorder Tue 23-Feb-21 15:43:30

A firm favourite in our house.

Thanks for the recommendation - I’m off to take a look now Chestnut!

The first series features a young American woman, she leaves in the second series and Lucy buys the flat. Her brother Tim is very funny, and then along comes Daisy who is hilarious.
Then eventually Hugh Dennis arrives, and once he and his wife appear it gets even better in my opinion. Hugh Dennis has the most perfect dry comic timing, Lee Mack is so talented, and the gags are endless. I find myself laughing out loud which rarely happens these days!

Oh yes, Lee Mack is so funny. Tim Vine was in the earlier ones too.
It’s so refreshing to have a gentle comedy these days.

I forget, who plays Daisy?

NotAGran55 Tue 23-Feb-21 16:06:11

I love Lee Mack . Have you seen the ‘out takes ‘ of Not Going Out ? So so funny ?.

Chestnut Tue 23-Feb-21 16:06:15

Hope you enjoy it Urmstongran. You could quite easily skip the first series as it beds itself in better by the second series and that's when Lucy takes over the flat.

LauraNorder Tue 23-Feb-21 16:09:12

I can't remember who plays Daisy. I have cousin just like her, very frustrating in real life but hilarious in a sitcom.

Love Lee Mack he's hilarious. He's brilliant on Would I Lie to you as well. He's just so quick.

We have watched it from the beginning - it's fabulous!! I also love Hugh Dennis and I love the thought of him getting together with Claire Skinner.

Maggymay Tue 23-Feb-21 16:23:38

Will miss Bobby Ball loved hin as Lee’s Dad.

I like this series, always makes me laugh. My husband doesn't like it all.

Looked on Wiki and Daisy is played by Katy Wix, a Welsh actress who has also appeared in Miranda, Outnumbered and The Windsors.

I think there has been a sort of revival because of Bobby Ball's passing. It is also being revived on Youtube, which is where I watch it, as, of course, I don't have access to the iplayer.

Going to try it tonight - thanks for the recommendation.

I’ve started from series 1. What else am I doing anyway?
#lazygran

I’m on episode 3 now. Just settled down with a cuppa. Shame I’m on a diet - a couple or three custard cream biscuits would go down a treat right now.

DanniRae Tue 23-Feb-21 19:02:17

To be honest I just find it just okish (is that a word?)

jusnoneed Tue 23-Feb-21 19:10:22

I have tried watching this a couple times, to me it just is not funny at all. Last time was a couple weeks ago when channel hopping and they were doing a quiz with different partners - just plain daft. Didn't raise a giggle let alone a laugh.
So one to avoid for me.

Good job we don't all like the same stuff!

Don't judge it by Series 1 though. I think there are 11 series and it just keeps getting better all the time. It's so good that another 2 series are already planned!

I have long been a fan of this series, and keep many (Dave) recorded episodes of Would I Lie to You, to cheer me up whenever I feel particularly down. Lee Mack is such a brilliant comic. Another firm favourite of mine (and happy to watch repeats) is Outnumbered.
