Anyone else think this was an irritating bag of tripe? Northerners portrayed as a bunch of losers. Totally silly storyline. Well that’s an hour of my life I won’t get back again!

BlueBelle Tue 30-Mar-21 22:50:03

Yes pretty tripey wasn’t it ? It had as much umph in as a bag of spuds

Coolgran65 Wed 31-Mar-21 01:22:05

I loved it.

The previous Syndicate series have been ok, but you can always pick out Kay Mellor’s writing and often uses the same Northern actors.

Most disappointing was Neil Morrissey. Usually such a roguish twinkle in his eye, but with his badly dyed hairstyle and being the baddie this time, very unappealing.

The show got a good review in my TV guide, will keep watching, not much else on a Tuesday night.

I have never watched a previous series and I nearly gave up but I did like the dogs and yes, it was a load of tripe but for once I did not have to follow every word wondering what was happening next as I have been recently. It was quite endearing and I agree, there is not much else to watch.

Neil M was a baddie in line of duty I seem to remember!
I saw a bit while zapping. Why is his hair like that? Was it part of the plot or has he the actor lost the plot and dyed it?

kittylester Wed 31-Mar-21 07:50:27

I thought it was enjoyable tripe for a Tuesday. I have a soft spot for Neil Morrisey.

glammanana Wed 31-Mar-21 07:52:31

What a waste of time this was ? It intrigues me to how the people who work at the kennels will afford to chase Neil Morrissey to South of France ?
I won't be watching again I found Who Wants to be a Millionaire ( even with Jeremy Clarkson) far more interesting.

Why is his hair like that
of course his hair was was for the part he was playing

Thank goodness for that !

It was a bit silly but sometimes that’s just what you need.
glammananna* the wife said she would pay for them to track him down.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 31-Mar-21 08:36:26

I found it disappointing compared to the previous series. The good thing for us was seeing the Humber bridge and surrounding area which is right on our doorstep. In the scene where he drove off from the bridge in the second car interestingly it was towards a local pub car park which is in fact a dead end ?

Ro60 Wed 31-Mar-21 08:44:20

Fell Sleep after 10 minutes. Enjoyed the first series & was thinking I'll have to watch it again tonight. Now I'm not so sure. ?

glammanana Wed 31-Mar-21 08:46:03

ginny Thanks for that I must have changed channels at that point

Jaxjacky Wed 31-Mar-21 08:46:31

I was disappointed, it felt a bit like repeating a formula for the sake of it. Think I’ll find something else next week, maybe a film.

lemsip Wed 31-Mar-21 08:53:11

didn't enjoy it. too much frantic running about. won't watch again.

Urmstongran Wed 31-Mar-21 08:53:22

This time the Lottery winners are kennel-workers, all cash-strapped and with reasons for needing money: debt collectors at the door, a daughter to feed, a baby on the way. When their winning numbers come up, they’ve scooped £27million.

The problem is that Frank (Neil Morrissey) the local shopkeeper, has claimed the ticket and done a bunk to Monte Carlo. By the episode’s end, the crew were off to track him down with the help of his disgruntled fiancée (Gaynor Faye) who has offered to fund the trip.

I think next week I’ll read instead. ?

TerriBull Wed 31-Mar-21 09:03:42

Pretty tripey, especially after the sublime Unforgotten, I'm still reeling from that sad

Neil Morrisey's hair colour is awful, his man child "Men Behaving Badly" days long over now, but I suppose that was quite a while ago!

BBC are going to have to up their game they can't afford to be complacent in commissioning such mediocre mid week fare, sometimes there are better programmes on in the afternoon, maybe this is where this one belongs. There is way too much competition nowadays they don't have the monopoly they did once.

sodapop Wed 31-Mar-21 09:05:38

It was a little light relief from all the drama of crime series. I loved the Irish wolfhound.
I'm not very discriminating with my TV viewing smile

Casdon Wed 31-Mar-21 09:10:18

I didn’t watch this, but I heard an interview with Neil Morrissey on Radio 2 yesterday when he said how embarrassed he was about the hair - it was dyed for the series, but of course he had to live his normal life with it dyed until it grew out, and he hated it, people kept going up to him and saying how awful it was, but he couldn’t change it until filming was finished.

JessK Wed 31-Mar-21 10:08:29

Watched until the first advert break and then turned it over to watch Ross Kemp on ITV.
Found it very annoying and thin on substance

Jane43 Wed 31-Mar-21 10:11:02

Same old, same old, Kay Mellor tends to recycle stories and she uses many of the same cast members including her daughter. The dogs were nice though.

Calendargirl Wed 31-Mar-21 10:26:30

Watched until the first advert break, then turned it over to ITV

confused

Which channel were you watching???

It was on BBC1, no adverts on my telly!

Calendargirl Wed 31-Mar-21 10:31:18

Going back to Neil Morrisey. Saw him once being interviewed by Piers Morgan.

He sounded to have a rough childhood, then it went on to talk about his love life, about his conquests, one being Amanda Houlden. Piers revealed that Amanda had said at the time he was a great kisser!

Mmm, can well believe that!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️???

JessK Wed 31-Mar-21 12:04:15

Shows how much attention I was paying to it Calendergirl. It was indeed on BBC.
