I have just watched the film Easter Parade made in 1948, with giant stars of Fred Astair and Judy Garland.

It as so brilliant, despite being over seventy years old. The dancing and singing was mesmerising throughout.

Where is the equivalent talent, as well trained and so brillaint???

They don’t make them like they used to!

Apart from the Sound of Music………

Agree I love them too, Musicals in general remind me of being little watching with my Nan who was a big fan.
(I'm sure I heard there is a film being made about the Amazing Fred Astaire?)
Going to watch Easter Parade on catch up . I always liked James Cagney in "Yankee Doodle Dandy" it's funny what takes your fancy when your small.

The Sound of Music was made in 1965..the early to mid 60 ' had a few classic' s as did late 70's then nothing that springs to mind?

Stage musicals thankfully still going strong.
I saw Mary Poppins in London 2 weeks ago, I'm lucky we live not far from Chichester who stage a Musical as part of the Summer season and Southampton is the local stop for West End productions.
You can't beat a song and a dance story, it make me happy.

I love watching old musicals. I just watched Some Like it Hot with Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe. I know she did not do all of the singing in the film, but it is good fun to watch. Jack Lemmon is one of my favourite comedy actors.

And I'll watch anything with Doris Day in it!
