Did anyone watch the first episode of this? I really enjoyed it and thought that Anton and Giovanni worked well together with their banter. Of course the location in Sicily is absolutely spectacular and I will continue to watch this lovely programme.

We watched as we love Sicily and have visited the whole island on 5 separate visits.

I loved the locations, all of which we have visited ourselves- but the 'banter' and relationship seemed a bit ott- bordering on the 'those two are in love, or?'

Our first visit to Sicily was because of Montalbano series- all filmed in the SE, baroque sicily- Noto, Scicli, Modica, Sampieri, Punta Secca, etc.

I’ve watched all 3 episodes. The last one was very moving.
I went to see Giovanni live a couple of weeks ago, wonderful.
One surprise was that he can sing very well.

I’m watching it avidly, we’re going to Sicily in June. It does look lovey.
As it’s about the size of Wales, I’m sure we’ll make return visits.

Where are you going J52?

Fleurpepper Thu 23-Mar-23 17:07:32

June will be fabulous for wild flowers smile

I wanted to love it as I have a not so secret crush on Giovanni and I do like Anton but it got on my nerves eventually.

I was disappointed as I loved Alan Carr and Ananda Holden's house makeover and wanted to see more of Sicily, but the banter was irritating.

Where are you going J52?

We’re going to Cefalu. It looks an interesting town.

Fleurpepper Thu 23-Mar-23 19:24:25

Yes, with its Norman Cathedral. We stayed just East of it once, at a place called La Calette. A visit to hill top Erice, with its fake Norman Church is well worth it, and the ruins of Segeste, Temple at the bottom and amphitheatre at the top, with amazing views (there is a bus to take you up, but we walked). And Palermo is not too far. Flying to Palermo, or Catania on East coast?

I've watched 2 of the episodes for the scenery as Sicily is somewhere I've always wanted to go.

I've never been a great fan of Anton's and if I'm honest he ruined the programme for me because he's always "on" and "playing to the gallery" and I find him irritating. When is he ever genuine?

But I love Giovanni so I'll keep on with it.

I thought it was a bit schmaltzy and loved up but far preferable to the current violence and sad news that's surrounding us these days. However, I've had the privilege of knowing two males who had that close kind of relationship. Wonderful.........

I've only watched the first one so far. I loved it! Giovanni swathed in a towel - what more could you ask? I thought the genuine friendship between the two made it so much more enjoyable than the usual celeb road tripand I was pleased that Anton took carrying the Madonna seriously and realised what a big deal it was for Giovanni.

I went with my daughters to see Giovanni in Skegness last May, I`m another who was surprised at how well he sings. I loved the first programme in this series, looking forward to the rest. We`re going to see Anton and Giovanni in their show this coming summer. I like Gio, but Anton is my favourite.

We have just watched all three episodes and really enjoyed it.

Thank you for the information Fleurpepper. Looks like there’s some good restaurants as well.

Am watching it one by one. Worked as a nanny/housekeeper in Catania. Was given a tiny Fiat to ferry the children. Such fun.

We have also visited Sicily and have had the privilege of seeing Giovanni in his live show This is Me last year, it was outstanding. We are off to see him again in a couple of months in his new show called Made in Italy, can't wait!

Sorry it is LeCalette, for the place where we stayed just outside Cefalu. If you have time to drive to Baroque Sicily, Montalbano country, it would be great. I forgot Ragusa on my list above. And a bit beyond, we loved Ortigia, the island just South of Syracuse (you can drive over).

And take a boat trip around the wildlife nature reserve.

scenery in Sicily is amazing.. Giovanni great too.

We really enjoyed the programme & the banter & “activites”. Think their relationship is great - a genuine friendship.
We’ve been to Sicily so that made it even better!

Mollygo Wed 29-Mar-23 22:25:32

We enjoyed the programs, no sex, no violence, amazing landscapes and some light hearted banter. Plus 2 of my favourite people on Strictly.
