Oh wow! I have gone back to episode one and it is so good, so relevant.

kittylester Tue 26-Mar-19 20:07:03

Could you make notes please, lily. I will have questions when it starts but don't have time to watch the box set!

jacq10 Tue 26-Mar-19 20:13:25

Cancel everything kittylester and watch the box set! I had never watched Line of Duty at all first time round but on DD's advice I started on Episode 1 and got seriously hooked and am so looking forward to Sunday.

kittylester Tue 26-Mar-19 20:19:27

I've watched them all as they were aired but have an appalling memory.

Lily65 Tue 26-Mar-19 20:46:07

Make time !! TV is absolute dross these days.

BlueBelle Tue 26-Mar-19 21:31:09

I want to catch up but haven’t seen any and can’t imagine I ll get through all those before Sunday
HELP

Grannybags Tue 26-Mar-19 21:35:58

I can't wait for Sunday! I hope it's as good as past series

tanith Tue 26-Mar-19 21:38:12

Can’t wait either, not sure whether to watch the last two episodes just to remind myself how it ended.

Eloethan Tue 26-Mar-19 23:23:13

This is the only programme for which I have bought all the DVDs.

It is just brilliant. I hope it can maintain the same high standard. In my opinion, the last series - the one with Thandie Newton - was ever so slightly inferior to the preceding series but still far better than most other things on TV.

Lily65 Wed 27-Mar-19 08:12:25

Yes, it wandered off a bit Eloethan and I wasn't sure she added much.

I was on my own all of this week and I have binge watched series 1 to 3 and will start on 4 soon. It is just as good second time around. The cast is excellent, especially Hastings ( like the battle). He is so straight laced and bewildered by all the dirty goings on. I love it.

ninathenana Wed 27-Mar-19 10:49:33

Talking of Hastings, I had it in my head that he was pensioned off ? corruption or was killed even.

Obviously not smile but can anyone remind me why I may be thinking that ? confused or am I literally losing the plot !

1inamillion Wed 27-Mar-19 11:02:27

Oh no I hope Hasting is still in it, he was so good.
nina I can't remember how it ended though I don't think he was killed off, hope not. I've watched all the series, even DH watched them - must be good to rouse him from his crosswords/sudoku

Ilovecheese Wed 27-Mar-19 11:08:56

There was a shadow of suspicion falling over Hastings because his name begins with H. Dot's dying declaration said that the top 'bent' cops name begins with H.

TwiceAsNice Wed 27-Mar-19 13:04:21

Love it! Can’t wait! However I did really like Baptist’s as a stopgap

ninathenana Wed 27-Mar-19 15:19:01

Ah yes, thanks Ilc I remember now.

He is definitely still in it, I've seen the trailers.

oldgimmer1 Fri 29-Mar-19 09:23:46

I thjnk Hastings' past will be called into question, but I don't think he's H.

I think it's more likely to be Hargreaves, the Murder Squad cop.

He was very close to Mike Dryden, who was also bent as a nine bob note.

Can't wait for Sunday.

FountainPen Fri 29-Mar-19 09:59:33

I am coming the party a little late, have just caught up with series one and two and started watching three with the mad firearms officer. Keeley Hawes in series two was brilliant - so very different to "Mrs Durrells" smile

Lily65 Fri 29-Mar-19 13:11:03

Oh series 2 is disturbing. I had forgotten.

FountainPen, not wishing to be rude, yes she's different because she is acting! Some people just get loads of money for being themselves.

Love Line of Duty. Watched all the series then last year watched the boxed set from beginning to end each evening for as long as it lasted, 21 episodes?! By the end of it felt that Hastings, Arnott etc had moved in with us! The next series looks a bit fierce.

HootyMcOwlface Fri 29-Mar-19 13:32:13

Poor Arnott, I wonder what’s in store for the fella in this series. In the past he’s been bashed round the head with an oxygen cylinder (or something like that), nearly had his fingers cut off, and thrown down a stairwell! Will he survive this series?!

EllanVannin Fri 29-Mar-19 13:38:25

My D had a pic taken with Stephen Graham last year when he was on set making this series.

Maggiemaybe Fri 29-Mar-19 14:42:31

It wasn't Hastings that was pensioned off, ninathenana. Are you perhaps thinking of the Neil Morrissey character (the one with the stick who was falsely claiming disability benefits?). Still Behaving Badly after all these years. smile

oldgimmer1 Fri 29-Mar-19 15:24:42

It could have been Nige (Morrissey)pensioned off.

Dryden was also pensioned off in the end I think as the charges against him didn't stick.

And of course Tony Gates who got killed "In the Line of Duty" so his wife could keep his pension.

Fab characters - flawed but ambiguous.

That's what i like about LoD - there's no tidy answers. Keeps you guessing.

I think Kate is an Inspector in the upcoming series - beating Steve to it!

I suppose Steve must have taken quite a bit of time off after his tribulations, hence not making Inspector despite passing the exams.

FountainPen Fri 29-Mar-19 16:44:55

Lily65. Yes, it was said with a smile as I'm watching these two very different series in tandem. She had Arnott fooled at one point ... or was he? Maybe just lulling her into a false sense of having some support but those violent outbursts - the bottle road the head of the noisy neighbour and driving the car over and over into the legs of her kidnapper. She was a psychopath.
