New series revisiting The Chateau - I'm getting ready in The Hovel , to watch it very soon . 8 pm Channel 4 .So excited !

TerriBull Sun 07-Jul-19 19:18:21

Will be looking out for it, a welcome return, I've become an avid admirer of Dick (but not his facial fungus) and the wonderful off the wall Angel, not to mention their glorious transformed chateau.

EllanVannin Sun 07-Jul-19 19:28:52

They've done so well. Angel is so lovely and such a happy character. A wonderful partnership.

SirChenjin Sun 07-Jul-19 19:30:57

Love love love this programme! If only DHs DIY skills were up to Dick’s <wistful>

gillybob Sun 07-Jul-19 19:32:28

Oh thank you for the “ heads up” oldwoman I love this series and have been watching repeats . Can’t wait smile

GrannyGravy13 Sun 07-Jul-19 19:35:28

Dick Strawbridge was our AC first commanding officer, and Angels parents had a restaurant at the end of our High Street. We had many family celebrations there.

A truly nice family.

SirChenjin Sun 07-Jul-19 19:38:02

They really do come across that way Granny smile

gillybob Sun 07-Jul-19 19:38:27

Oh I just knew they would be GrannyGravy . Might have a glass of vino to celebrate the new series ( even though it’s a school night ) smile

GrannyGravy13 Sun 07-Jul-19 19:52:17

Stephen was a”faulty towers” persona and Jenny tried to “control” him, always good for a fun night out gillybob....cheers I am having a glass of chilled white x

Ellianne Sun 07-Jul-19 19:53:59

I'm looking forward to this too.

Auntieflo Sun 07-Jul-19 19:58:24

Thanks for the reminder Tiredoldwoman
I had seen this in RT, but forgotten, so programme is now set to enjoy later.

merlotgran Sun 07-Jul-19 19:58:38

Love it. The children are delightful and I like the way they get stuck in to all their projects without any negative attitudes and shrug off any problems that crop up.

gillybob Sun 07-Jul-19 21:19:31

Loved seeing this family again. I hadn’t seen the episode with the lift being installed and despite the running commentary from DH on the principles of the lift I thoroughly enjoyed it . Thank again TOW x

Dick is so clever, his brain is constantly looking for projects. I'm guessing we see more of Angel's lovely designs next week.

Jane10 Mon 08-Jul-19 07:51:47

I'd heard that Angela was his second wife and that his first wife and family have been glossed over. I must say it put me off them a bit.

SirChenjin Mon 08-Jul-19 08:00:43

Yes it’s his second marriage like so many other people. I don’t think they’ve been glossed over - his older children have visited in the Chateau series and they, along with Dick and his first wife, all appeared in a TV serious about living a green life a number of years back. He divorced from his first wife about 10 years ago if my memory serves me correctly.

I may have a slight crush on Mr Strawbridge and know a little bit more about him than I should blush

SirChenjin Mon 08-Jul-19 08:02:15

Oh - and for anyone who loves Angel’s designs, Next have the chateau design she created for one of the bedrooms ?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Jul-19 08:55:28

Dick filmed a tv program with his elder son. They sailed round Britain, cooking and hi-lighting local produce and craftsmen/women.

TerriBull Mon 08-Jul-19 10:10:20

He's so clever and resourceful and she is wonderfully creative, having taken on such a monumental task that would surely daunt most mere mortals. They both seem full of good humour, possibly careful editing, but can't help admiring them both. Hope they continue living the dream, which I'm sure on occasions can also be a nightmare, nevertheless a very inspirational family.

newnanny Mon 08-Jul-19 11:14:07

I love love love this programme and the last series got me so inspired I put a ciel de lit above bed in French house with voile hanging down sides. Sadly I am not a creative person so will be looking out for more inspirations from Angel.

Jane10 Mon 08-Jul-19 11:29:46

I actually can't stand the self promoting Dick. I much preferred the spin off programme 'Escape to the Chateau DIY' in which he was much more incidentally involved. I enjoyed seeing all the other chateaus with their attendant problems.

Jabberwok Mon 08-Jul-19 14:34:40

I used to feel like that about Dick Jane10, but since programmes about the renovations of the Chateau I have warmed considerably to him, although of course it must be carefully choreographed as I can't believe they never have a cross word!!!! and I do find the constant guffaws a tinse tiresome, but they are a delightful family and makes for positive TV!! It's a lovely property BUT I'm not sure that with young children I would be very keen on all that water surrounding it. Perhaps they've fenced it off or maybe the children are kept away from it by another method. It would worry me that's for sure!

SirChenjin Mon 08-Jul-19 15:54:41

I agree Jabberwok - both re the lack of arguments and water. DH and I would certainly —fight like cat and dog— find a project like that challenging, especially with the in laws living on site and being so involved

Floradora9 Mon 08-Jul-19 18:21:28

Looks like a rehash of old programmes .

Harris27 Mon 08-Jul-19 18:28:52

I didn't know this was back on a
So will l download it thanks ! Love it!
