If you like musicals, you can’t fail to like it.
My DH took his Mother to see it, after I had seen it with friends. He is looking forward to seeing it again tonight.

I can’t abide Hugh Jackman so I’m not watching it.

Grandmabatty Sun 18-Oct-20 18:48:43

Just as well we all have different tastes! I love musicals but hated the Greatest Showman.

Kate1949 Sun 18-Oct-20 18:52:24

I went to see this with my daughter and granddaughter. I didn't fancy it one bit but I loved it.

Thanks. I’ll watch it. My son really enjoyed it so I’ll give it a go.

Sparklefizz Sun 18-Oct-20 19:27:00

I'm watching it now (adverts on at the moment). Didn't think I'd like it ..... but I do !!

Ohmother Sun 18-Oct-20 19:27:05

I’m watching it, whilst on here, for the fourth time. Love the songs. ??

blue25 Sun 18-Oct-20 19:36:40

It’s awful. Way too cheesy and naff.

blue25

It’s awful. Way too cheesy and naff.

It's based on a true story though.

Oopsminty Sun 18-Oct-20 19:45:10

I just love it

Didn't think I would but was quite captivated

Some fabulous songs

BlueBelle Sun 18-Oct-20 19:48:02

I love musicals but I absolutely hated this, it’s one of the few films I came close to walking out of, so I m with blue25 and Grandmabatty for me it was truly awful ?

I’m so relieved to hear I am not alone., I didn’t enjoy it at all.

Sparklefizz Sun 18-Oct-20 20:25:00

There are some moving and beautiful songs.

Oopsminty Sun 18-Oct-20 20:28:41

I doubt very much there is a film that everyone is going to like!

Horses for courses and all that

henetha Sun 18-Oct-20 20:35:46

As a musicals lover I was slightly disappointed by this one when it first came out. It's too muddly, too noisy, and too smaltzy. But there are some fantastic songs in it so I bought the CD.

One thing I don't like is seeing the animals doing tricks at the end. I know this is how circuses used to be but it always made me uneasy to see wild animals performing even when I was a small child. I have never liked circuses, but I did like this film.

It wasn’t for us. We saw it on a holiday and wished we had chosen to do something else. Our son and grandchildren loved it. A Marmite film I think.

Ohmother Sun 18-Oct-20 21:02:20

Finished now. Loved it again! DH caught with tears in his eyes a couple of times. ❤️

seacliff Sun 18-Oct-20 21:03:44

Agreed Bluebelle and others. Saw this at the cinema, what a disappointment. Normally enjoy musicials. Will never watch it again.

Jane43 Sun 18-Oct-20 22:17:50

I watched it A few months ago on dvd with my granddaughter who was 10 at the time. She loved it but I was a bit underwhelmed.

TwiceAsNice Sun 18-Oct-20 22:41:58

We watched it and really enjoyed it. Husband hates musicals but said it looked like one of those films he wouldn't want to watch but would enjoy it in the end and he did.

I watched it, the songs were very uplifting, the storyline predictable. I found it sad with the showpeople and their disabilities or disfigurements being the main part of the show. Also the animals being used. Although in the times it was set in, it was worse that that. I think it doesn't hurt to remember that humans have a very unpleasant history.

OMG it was truly dreadful. Two hours of my life I won't get back again. hmm
