Goggle box/Naked Attraction

Television really has reached a new low. Tuned in to goggle box the other night and watched them review a show called Naked Attraction. I am certainly no prude, but what has the world come to when men and women reveal themselves, standing in a box, stark naked, to try to win a date. The show is not remotely funny nor interesting. I honestly despair!

It's awful isn't it; came across it some time ago when I was channel hopping and put me right off channel hopping!!!

Well it’s not everyone’s taste but it’s apparently popular.

Going off at a bit of a tangent but is it just me that finds the gay hairdresser guy on gogglebox who’s been in it for years totally unfunny. He was ok when he was with his other partner who I quite like, then he was with his mum and now he’s with his husband. I just can’t stand people that laugh at their own jokes. I’ve only just started watch gogglebox again. As for Naked Attraction, it really is the lowest of the low isn’t it.

I saw it on Gogglebox. I had no idea the plucked chicken look was the norm ?

How low can TV sink and those who watch - sad

merlotgran Mon 23-Nov-20 19:18:39

biba Are you saying that anyone who watches Gogglebox is - sad?

Sorry, but I really enjoy Googlebox, although I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when it was pitched to the TV company that eventually commissioned it! grin

Naked Attraction is another matter though, and I think to lump that and Googlebox in the same bracket (or OP) is to do Googlebox a disservice.

I've only seen Naked Attraction on a couple of occasions, usually while channel hopping and have experienced that sort of "deer in the headlights" effect, in that you can hardly believe what you are seeing.

Ended up shouting at the TV, "You mean vulva, not vagina"! But it would seem that's a common mistake, and never corrected.

Naked Attraction is gruesome.

I couldn't watch, tho, when Gogglebox showed Ant & Dec having to consume some horrible things. Yuk

phoenix agree and I’m not sorry I watch google box, it cheers me up as well as listening to different view points. Naked attraction, never watched, used to watch the red triangle films years ago though!
Each to their own, turn over or switch off.

Goggle Box can be great fun

Naked Attraction is quite the opposite. It baffles me. How can we possibly decide on a good date by looking at the naked form.

I certainly didnt mean to slate goggle box. I really enjoy it, especially the two clever brothers with the handsome dad! I just sometimes wonder about their choice of programmes to review? Thats twice they have reviewed that revolting Naked Attraction.

I love First Dates, too. Never make a point of watching it but when I catch it by accident I have to watch all of it.

Well glad to see some support for Gogglebox!

Apart from being entertaining, it came (as others have said) an insight as to how other people view things.

Damn sight more entertaining and enlightening than reading the letters pages of some of the newspapers!

Sort of the modern alternative to the man on the Clapham Omnibus, iykwim

Sorry about typos, should read "can be".

I think the participants are told what to watch.

I can't imagine that some of the programmes would be their personal choice!

Pass the sick bucket

I really enjoy Gogglebox. My favourites are the Siddiqi family and Mary and Marina. Oh and Giles and Mary.

Jane10 Mon 23-Nov-20 21:44:21

I love it too. Jenny and Lee and Giles and Mary are favourites. Siddiqui family too. Also the Malones with their huge dogs and plates of cakes. I suppose it's hard to understand the attraction of it unless you've seen the programme.
Naked Attraction. Argh. It's incomprehensible that that programme is in any way entertaining.

Auntieflo Mon 23-Nov-20 21:56:21

I used to love Gogglebox, but it is sinking to new lows recently. Why? I'm sure it must embarrass some of the participants.
Just wondering what June and Leon would have made of it?

merlotgran Mon 23-Nov-20 22:05:56

I think some people don't actually 'get' Gogglebox.

Lucretzia Mon 23-Nov-20 22:08:11

I think June and Leon would have found Naked Attraction quite hilarious

annsixty Mon 23-Nov-20 22:24:15

The Naked attraction segment on tonight’s Gogglebox had my GD and I nearly falling off our chairs laughing.
What sort of person subjects themselves to such depths
We were not laughing at the poor souls taking part but the reaction of the goggleboxers.

Not strictly true the jogging antics were hilarious.

Ian Hislop is a fan of Gogglebox.
