So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

Sparklefizz Sat 14-Aug-21 10:14:18

I probably only know 5 too, but it doesn't matter. Robert Webb should be good as I remember him doing a dance for Comic Relief. The athletes are always good, very dedicated and take direction well.

As you say, Nanny, can't wait for something to brighten up the autumn and the TV schedules. smile

bring it on
im over who is in it and who judges it
just
the costumes
the set
the lighting
the music
the choreography

henetha Sat 14-Aug-21 10:25:40

Totally agree... it's something to look forward to. I love it all.
Yay! Even if we don't know all the contestants now we soon will.

Georgesgran Sat 14-Aug-21 10:29:43

Don’t watch Strictly but remember Robert Webb’s ‘Flashdance’ for Comic Relief.
Despite messing about a bit - that man can dance.

Emma Thompson is said to be ‘stupidly excited’ that her husband Greg Wise is doing Strictly.
(He’s doing it to honour his late sister, Clare, who was a Strictly super-fan.)
I don’t believe Thompson one little bit, I bet that she’s worried sick! I know that I’d be.

Why, worried I mean?

About the dancing, or the fact that dishy Greg might fall for his dance partner, AKA The Strictly Curse?

annodomini Sat 14-Aug-21 13:04:45

I'm already backing Robert Webb - a real 'twinkletoes'!

Rosalyn69 Sat 14-Aug-21 13:06:09

Dan Walker. smile

Nannylovesshopping Sat 14-Aug-21 13:12:45

I’m hoping Rose, from EastEnders does well, challenging for her as she is deaf, yep she’s definitely my favourite already!

kittylester Sat 14-Aug-21 13:13:09

I am so looking forward to it and echo - Dan Walker!!!!

But, I am going to be predictable here - any one related to a contestant eg their flipping mother? grin

FannyCornforth Sat 14-Aug-21 13:26:40

Calendargirl yes, definitely the Strictly Curse!

GrandmaTrisha Sat 14-Aug-21 13:32:12

Aside from this…….what do others think about Janette doing Strictly it takes Two? She’s very bubbly but I’ve never regarded her as a presenter.
I wonder if Rylan will be back by then as well? He’s been missing from his radio show for months after splitting with his husband.

eazybee Sat 14-Aug-21 13:50:00

I'm not watching it until one of the Mabuse sisters leaves the show; one sister wins two years running immediately her sister becomes a judge. Really? I stopped watching when they promoted the dreadful Aleisha Dixon, and didn't miss it.

That said, I so hope Greg Dyke does well; I always felt Emma Thompson emasculated him and squashed his development as an actor after Sense and Sensibility.

Alegrias1 Sat 14-Aug-21 13:54:58

one sister wins two years running immediately her sister becomes a judge.

The final is a public vote only, I'm not sure the Mabuse sisters have that much clout.

I don't think Emma Thompson emasculated Greg Dyke, or if she did it probably had nothing to do with his success as an actor. wink

muse Sat 14-Aug-21 14:01:35

Don’t care whose in it or how many I don’t know. I watched every series.

I feel I’m with my DD 100s of miles away when we watch it. We’re constantly texting each other during the shows and do a lengthy chat after each result.

Grandmabatty Sat 14-Aug-21 14:06:25

I'm ridiculously excited about it! I know only a handful but that's the pleasure for me. I'll get to know them all. Robert Webb was very ill so it's good to see him doing something challenging.

MerylStreep Sat 14-Aug-21 14:08:13

GrandmaTrisha
Janette did a lot of interviewing on the Morning Live program.
She was really good.
I think she will be perfect for It Takes Two.

Washerwoman Sat 14-Aug-21 20:10:59

I remember watching Robert Webb doing Flashdance for Comic Relief with DD and almost crying with laughter ,and he certainly could move so looking forward to seeing him .It certainly brightens up dark Autumn Saturday nights.

Millie22 Sat 14-Aug-21 21:45:17

I like Janette and feel sure she will be good on itt. Shall miss Zoe though.

Bluebellwould Sat 14-Aug-21 21:50:09

Oh dear, I hate it. All that false enthusiasm, the politics, the rigged voting, the simpering idiots, the sympathy comic entrant. Well I sincerely hope all you enthusiasts enjoy it. I’m off to hide behind sofa with a good book ?????

Sweetpeasue Sat 14-Aug-21 22:09:25

I love dance--full stop, so this is great TV for me.
They dont seem to sign up the more we'll known celebrities as they used to.
Love to see the good dancers but equally like to see those that make real progress from those with no dancing ability at all.
They really do work hard and put the hours in on this show.
Love it!
Anton judging too.

Alegrias1 Sat 14-Aug-21 22:10:59

Last year's sympathy comic entrant won. Probably rigged ?

BigBertha1 Sun 15-Aug-21 06:36:15

I really enjoy the show its just fun to me and something to watch on BBC 1 on Saturday night at last.

Calendargirl Sun 15-Aug-21 06:45:03

They don’t seem to sign up the well known celebrities as they used to

Probably running out of suitable ones.

Who would you like to see taking part?

Meghan or Harry? Guaranteed spectacular ratings. I suppose Dancing With The Stars would be their first choice now though, the USA version of Strictly.
