I'm watching a really interesting (and sad) programme about the man, the music, and the attitude to AIDS, back when it was first known about.

If anyone gets the chance to watch it on catch up or something, I can recommend it.

seacliff Sat 27-Nov-21 21:57:51

Yes me too, really good but so sad. It was terrible how people were treated.

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:00:43

It's just terrible isn't it?

I have never seen his sister before, or made me weep when she told of her dad reading the newspaper, and his tears dripping onto it.

Allsorts Sat 27-Nov-21 22:02:14

I liked his music.

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:03:58

I'm a big fan, as were my mum and my daughter.
My girl would have loved this programme - she found Freddie intriguing and enchanting.

LauraNorderr Sat 27-Nov-21 22:12:54

Your daughter was right MissAdventure, intriguing and enchanting he was.
It’s been a great programme, very emotional and such great music. We won’t hear his like again.

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:17:12

grin
I remember my mum driving us somewhere (a bright yellow escort with squeaky brakes)

My daughter was only little, but we had queen on and were giving it our all, singing bohemian rhapsody.

Just as it got to the final crashing crescendo, flames burst out from the bonnet!

Galaxy Sat 27-Nov-21 22:21:37

I saw them at their last tour, he was amazing.

Shinamae Sat 27-Nov-21 22:21:58

So glad I didn’t miss this, lots of joy and lots of tears ?

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:24:02

What an absolute treat!
George Michael.
Roger Daltry.
Axel Rose in his kilt!
Liz Taylor.
Annie Lennox.

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:25:58

I'm beyond envious, Galaxy.
I really should have seen Queen live.

Grandmabatty Sat 27-Nov-21 22:28:01

I've been watching it all night. (After strictly) It's really moving.

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:31:49

Another programme following on now.
The 1975 concert. smile

Calistemon Sat 27-Nov-21 22:32:08

I've watched some and recorded the rest. It was very sad, I hadn't seen his sister before either.
Love the music

(and, as an aside, Brian May)

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:32:39

Here I stand...
Look around...
One of my favourites!

Thanks!!
TV back on, recording it.

Isn't GN wonderful ?

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:36:04

I love it if I can find someone to watch music with me.
It's a definite downside if living alone, having nobody to sing with.

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:38:02

Oh boy, they could playyyy!

SueDonim Sat 27-Nov-21 22:38:30

Which channel was this on, please?

It’s hard to believe it’s thirty years. ? We saw Queen in 1977, around the time of the Silver Jubilee. My ears took days to recover from the experience and my eyes have never recovered from Freddie in a harlequin cat suit just feet away from me!grin

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:39:03

BBC 2.

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:41:22

He is like a delicious cat, slinking around the stage.

BigBertha1 Sat 27-Nov-21 22:44:08

I nursed one the very first people admitted to a British hospital with full blown AIDS I will never forget that lovely young man.

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:49:18

I remember watching a programme about a man with aids years ago.
His partner held him in his arms and sang "you are my sunshine" to him.
How tragic it all was...

dragonfly46 Sat 27-Nov-21 22:50:09

Brilliant programme!

MissAdventure Sat 27-Nov-21 22:51:37
