I thought you were going to say she died. Phew!!

ixion Sat 22-Jan-22 21:39:37

She is amazing, isn't she?
We recorded and saved her appearance at Glastonbury in 2014. We replay it occasionally and her joie de vivre brightens up any day!

I thought you were going to say she died. Phew!!

Oh, sorry!!
No, just two programmes on BBC.
Perhaps I should ask GNHQ to change the heading.

Sickly sweet - and something really weird about her, don't you think? I had to change channels.

Callistemon21 Sat 22-Jan-22 21:53:33

No, I think she's great, although totally the opposite to me!
I think she's talented and funny, not a bit sickly sweet

No, I don't think. Why post Hetty58?
Oh, don't answer that.

Casdon Sat 22-Jan-22 21:56:04

She’s definitely not sickly sweet, she is very self deprecating in fact - and witty.

Grannynannywanny Sat 22-Jan-22 22:04:03

I really like Dolly. She’s a great entertainer and a wonderful song writer.

ixion Sat 22-Jan-22 22:07:10

No fool, our Dolly!

Grayling Sat 22-Jan-22 22:10:11

What amazes me is the strength of her fan base and the age group it encompasses. There is certainly more to her than the "dumb blonde" image she portrays. She a very clever and generous woman. You can tell I'm a big fan of both her and her work both off and on stage.

LadyGaGa Sat 22-Jan-22 22:10:36

I love Dolly. She’s one bad ass woman. She was a feminist before anyone really knew what that meant. She’s also a philanthropist- giving one million dollars to vaccine research and one million books to children. Go Dolly!!

Lincslass Sat 22-Jan-22 22:12:31

Great lady, great singer, does much good for many.

I thought you were going to say she'd died too Callistemon. I've seen her live twice and what amazed me was how many instruments she could play, and she could play them with such long finger nails.

Fabulous, songs and beautiful lyrics.

lemsip Sat 22-Jan-22 22:20:52

yes, I'm watching Dolly Parton's story really enjoy her humor aswell as her songs.

Ashcombe Sat 22-Jan-22 22:24:23

An inspirational life in her altruism beyond the world of show business and, despite her rise to stardom,
never forgetting her humble origins.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 22-Jan-22 22:36:56

And a great sing writer, too....

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 22-Jan-22 22:37:14

Song !

I've asked GNHQ to amend the title, Smileless!

I hope Dolly is immortal.

No fool, our Dolly!

Oh yes, I love that quote ixion

I’m watching ‘Here I Am’ at the moment. She is amazing, so down to earth, multi-talented and her song writing is amazing. I believe she donated $1 million to the vaccine programme in the USA. She was one of eleven children from a very humble background - what’s not to like?

Smileless2012 Sat 22-Jan-22 22:42:43

Oh so do I Callistemonsmile.

Yes, my SIL is a fan too!
Seeing her (again) at Glastonbury with so many people in the crowd (180,000 I think, more than at the headline act) shows that her appeal is not just restricted to oldies.

Kate1949 Sat 22-Jan-22 22:47:52

She's marvellous.

She once said she didn't mind being called a dumb blonde " because I know I'm not dumb and I know I'm not blonde". I think she's great - very talented, witty and intelligent.
