People tell me I carry a scarf well - what they mean is, it hides my neck wrinkles ?

Redhead56 Wed 06-Jul-22 18:44:36

Polo neck jumpers in the winter lovely floaty scarves in the summer. I would never go under the knife no matter how many wrinkles or saggy bits I end up with.

My advice - leave well alone !

I don’t understand ‘cosmetic’ surgery. I hate my nose, but I would rather have it the way it is than risk it looking worse. The idea of going to another country to have a cosmetic procedure fills me with dread. We literally risk our lives doing this. General anasthesia is not without risk, let alone infection or septiceamia. Scarves and necklaces are so much better for your health!

If you have a short neck like me scarves are impossible, they just make you look cold, they just don't suit some people.
My friend had a 'thread' procedure where they put a barbed plastic thread under the skin from just in front of her ear down to somewhere in her jawline (I'm not sure where) then tightened it up so it dragged the saggy jowls upwards.
The effect was to kind of brighten up her face so she looked less careworn. It was very subtle.
Sadly she's now dead or I'd ask how she went about finding a surgeon for you.
If you can afford it, and if it bothers you that much - go for it.
(the bruising takes longer to go down than they say)

Have you tried the Prai neck creams and treatments? I think they make a difference especially when combined with some neck and chin exercises. Maybe worth trying that first.

If you don’t go down the surgery route, then as already said above scarves are a good way of distracting the eyes from the texture of your skin (although to many you will just look normal with a few wrinkles. We all get them as we age).

Another distraction is big necklaces. Gloria Hunniford and Prue Leith are in their 80’s and often wear very eye-catching chunky necklaces.
I know you are much younger - but surgery is not the only option.

I’d like a neck lift too. Please let us know what you have decided. Good luck x

Plus she's probably 20 strikes ahead of the average when it comes to good looks. ?

I would also think she has marginally more money than all of us combined. That makes a slight difference.

PamelaJ1 Mon 08-Feb-21 13:51:27

All this chatting on line isn’t good for us is it?
My sister and I were talking about it the other day. Apart from the small question of price, we decided we’d rather look old than odd. Unfortunately so many do.
In this instance I’d pay for the best, not the cheapest.
shysal Jane has had a lot of work done. She looks fabulous but then we only see her after the lighting man, make up artist and cameraman have worked their magic.

Overseas surgery is all very well and a lot cheaper. A friend of mine went down that route years ago. Fine if everything goes well but if there is a problem, nobody will touch you with a bargepole here.

JeanHarmony Mon 08-Feb-21 13:28:38

Hello Shysal, I think you are fine as you are and know just how you feel about the neck, it does age you more than anything.. If you feel the need to have surgery go ahead. Get the best you can afford. I believe overseas surgery can be excellent but confide in a friend and get help with this decision. I do think older women need to look their best and however you do this is your business. Jane Fonda has had loads of surgery by the way. Get it done and enjoy looking how you want to look. Best of luck we only have one life.

Lucca Mon 20-Jul-20 18:56:44

I Really hate my wrinkled lined face but I’m healthy so I’m grateful !

shysal Mon 20-Jul-20 18:51:53

Why not do as Jane Fonda does on adverts. She always has her collar turned up or clutches some flowers to her neck area. Also scarves can cover the bits you hate.
I am too much of a coward to undergo cosmetic surgery just for vanity. There is nothing wrong with looking your age.

Ihatebinday Mon 20-Jul-20 18:38:42

Am in mid 50s considering neck lift
It’s just so expensive but I hate the way I look with all excess skin around howls
Anyone similar experience gone under knife ?
