Four unexpected uses for a vibrator

As Gransnet users will testify, there are many benefits to owning a vibrator. They can perk up your sex life, add a bit of spice in the bedroom - plus they never snore or hog the duvet.

But turns out they come in handy for all sorts of other things too. Suddenly rabbits in the garden takes on a whole new meaning.

1. Worm charming (as it were)

"It is brilliant at bringing the worms in the lawn to the surface when I want to go fishing."

2. Comfort blanket

"I have a vibrator that looks like a lipstick. With the permission of my surgeon I took it to my second cataract operation to hold in my hand to act as a distractor when I had to stare at the bright light."

3. Irrigator

"My, now retired, colleague won a vibrator at an Ann Summers party some years ago. She was a very keen gardener and had a greenhouse with a lot of very expensive and delicate plants that only required minimal watering. So she hooked up the vibrator to an inverted plastic drinks bottle filled with water; pierced a small hole in the end of the bottle and then switched the vibrator on. Result was that several plants received a light shower of droplets of water for as long as the battery on the vibrator held out. Pity it was bright pink, otherwise you'd never have noticed it!"

4. Blender

"My friend had forgotten that she had left hers lying around. When it was noticed by a family member she tried to pass it off as a stick blender for making soup."
