Many of my work colleagues are worried sick about serious risk redundancy in July, and their rent payments, as a result of down turn in economy as many businesses will not simply bounce back.

He did say no hairdressers or pubs opening till at least July. Also said you could drive to go for exercise.

Mr Bumble muddled his way through a pre recorded speech which was as clear as mud for the majority of us. He is not Churchill, although he would dearly love to be. All that is needed is concise key points. Who is going back to work today? How do they get there? Who looks after their children now?? Why quarantine travellers at the end of the month instead of beginning of March? Lockdown was too late. We should be out the other side by now..
Wednesday will be a nightmare when people take advantage of more exercise. Traffic has already increased here for the past week. People are not listening or distancing as they should.

I feel like my head is going to burst trying to think through the practicalities of this situation.

I’m 120 miles away and would normally get in the car and stay a few days if one of the the kids were at home unwell.

It was only days ago that posters were on GN saying they had friends /family members who needed to work to pay their bills etc., now that it is possible to return to work if a^safe environment^ can be provided they are complaining about being given the opportunity to return to work.....make up your mind please.

If it's safe for supermarket workers to carry on so that we can all be fed it should be safe for a lot more of the workforce to return.

Total trot - people being advised to go back to work before any safeguards have been put in place - the Tube was overcrowded this morning with people trying to go to work - how can you still expect social distancing when you are crammng people on to the available trains like sardines? You can go out for exercise - bet the Police will be annoyed about that one given the amount of people told off for being outside by them so far! Absolute rubbish and waffle - when will people realise that there are only two choices - herd immunity (so sorry if you die but never mind, the bulk of us will be okay) or produce a working and efficient vaccine/treatment.

I predict that in 2-3 weeks more people will have caught the virus because of his statement yesterday, some of whom will die. How can you Stay Alert to something that you can't see, touch, smell or hear?! Out of the four nations England is the only one that has adopted this, which tells me something. As much as I miss my family and cuddles with the grandkids I won't be travelling to visit them until I'm sure that it's safe to do so.

Schools may return on June 1 but only certain years and no indication of how this is to be achieved . Let’s face it there is no way Boris was going to please everyone. I thought it was a good speech. No one is forced to go out. If you’re more comfortable inside then stay there. I’m looking forward to being able to drive the 10 miles to the coast for exercise and a change of scene! My understanding was that you can meet one friend outside if you keep to the distancing rule and also one member of your family. I’m a bit horrified about the no hair cuts rule until at least July! Having said that I wouldn’t be too sure about going to a hair salon at the moment anyway but if that’s the rule then I will abide by it

We have NOT got the highest death rate in the world.

We haven’t even got the highest death rate in Europe in the figures which matter ie deaths per million of population.

We are actually 5th behind Belgium ,Spain, Italy and France.

I’m glad I’m in Scotland. I’ve never heard such a load of rubbish. Go to work but don’t use public transport. How are Londoners especially supposed to get there then. You can meet up with a family member in a park but not in your own garden. They must have very small gardens if you can’t stay 2mtr apart in it. As I said a load of rubbish

We never make it pleasant for Prime Ministers in this country, do we. Pick pick pick.whatever they do. I would hate that job!
Anyway, I don't hate Boris, I find him quite likeable, and yes I do know that is irrelevant...
However, to be honest, I found myself a little confused after his speech last night... so I'll continue to isolate, although I might try to see my sons in the garden or a park somewhere.

Plus he is the only known person of political power to have had it, the buddy across the water seems to be immune to it.

Seems even DT had the sense not to visit a Covid ward and go round shaking everyone’s hand (and boast about it afterwards). Brain of Britain, eh? And he’s running the show!

What about the supermarket workers who have been carrying on all through this? Although we as customers have 2 metre queueing outside, one way system round store and squared out floor space, the staff are valiantly filling shelves and not able to social distance from each other or in their back warehouse either I suspect. But we all want our groceries of course, and are quite happy to not really worry about whether sufficient measure have been in place for them the last 7 weeks or so.

You are spot on - I work part time in a local small supermarket, and that is the nail hit squarely on the head there. I’ve said, if one of us gets the virus we will all go down with it. Luckily our area is very low on the ONS infection rate charts so personally I don’t feel unduly worried (I have no underlying health conditions, if I had I might).
