Soops kitchen for caring and sharing...

Hi all.

Thank you for your kind words as it has been so hard to think of all that she has been through in her life. I phoned last night and they are keeping her comfortable in hospital and waiting for test results to come back.

I have a painting afternoon tomorrow with 3 friends in one of their gardens but I dont feel like going. I feel so down.
Sorry this is a miserable post.

Just rain and more rain here. I think my garden is screaming enough. Got Zoom with good friends in a moment so that should cheer things up.

Morning all. I awoke refreshed after the best nights sleep in months with my new pillow for 'side sleepers'. I was sceptical but decided to try it and pleased I have.It is not the memory foam type (too hot)

Another decidedly drippy morn in the Shire after some spectacular lightening and thunder last night. Now we have fine persistent rain soaking into mother earth and nourishing both vegetable plot and grounds. The fine weather choristers are obviously sheltering in the trees instead of opening their hearts to the world although 'my' crow, just landed on the lounge windowsill in our eerie and peered through at me for several seconds before resuming feeding duties.

CH is improving slowly, his bruising totally magnificent now. He is taking analgesics without prompting which tells its own story. Perhaps we need to resurrect the poorly wing at the end of the kitchen? My current projects are dispensing tlc to him, crumb clearance, help with dressing him and commencing another picture. A horse this time.

What is weird is that CH is really struggling yet I am on top form a more or less even keel atm.

Thank for pm's and good wishes. I reciprocate with kind thoughts and encouragement to all in need, flowers for all and virtual hugs for those alone.

I may bake a cake ....................

is supposed to be in The Argy, she should be cleaning up there instead of swanning about here eating scones.As for being underage.....surely you mean overage, given that she’s 87. She’s spry though, and a good worker when she’s had her morning coffee (which I lace with LSD)?

Oh, Izabella Ouch! Sounds like a very nasty fall your CH took. At one time or another I've dislocated both my shoulders, not broken either luckily. Gentle movements is what I say, to guard against too much stiffening up. Than and your TLC, which I'm sure you give anyway.

Annodomini, we've been spared the storms so far here too. They've been promised for days but each day - nothing. Looks very ominous now though. I love a good storm, rather the weather do it than my brain though ? Ooh - right on cue the first rumble ?.

For those who care - Montague has a fine pair of respectables. Honest to goodness, you lot are a bad influence.

I shall return tomorrow. Do try to maintain the usual high standards in our kitchen. The other place is for the occasional foray into a den of iniquity.

Ooh Soop I wouldn’t want to rustle with Montague’s horns. I hope you gave him a wide berth (well at least 2 metres) whilst taking his photo?

? woah! Bit harsh there, Anno. Poor Montague has had to suffer the indignities of shearing and don’t think Vidal Sassoon did it! When you next see him, Soop, please do check that he has enough clearance between his right horn and his face? Now I’m worrying that a random ram in Scotland might need his right horn shortened.....what am I like? Coco, our little bonkers Soay sheep, needed a serious horn cut one year. Hopefully those shearing Master M should have seen a problem...or perhaps it’s just the angle of the photo!

Thrilled the swans are all ok. Nature can be so brutal sometimes.

Don’t try to slide out of your Argy ‘doings’ - little wonder you need more Sloggis, the strain on the elastic must have been awful. Still, least said soonest mended and let’s hope the lovely MacS never gets to hear all the details. Fortunately Doodle is very well bred and discreet, so you should be o.k. The main thing is it gives you all a huge laugh, ditto your audience, so enjoy......but keep the noise down - you wouldn’t want poor lemon to lose her licence now, would you?

Izabella your poor man. It’ll take a while for the bruising and inflammation to clear. Do you have any Arnica? I think once we reach the age of around 13, there’s nothing entertaining about falling down. He must have had such a shock. He’ll have to take it easy and be patient for a while. Take care now both of you.

Wishing you all birdsong and sunshine, calm and a peaceful end to your June Wednesday. I’m currently enjoying my Earl Grey and braving the No See‘ums in my hot garden. Just like midges but probably more determined - each tiny insect possessing its own sharp dentures. Or so it would seem ! At this rate there will soon be a world shortage of Cortisone cream.

Doodle You are a rascal.

Ouch! My undercover visits to the Argy Bargy dive are now common knowledge. It's true. Mea culpa. Several of us lot have succumbed to the lure of the dimly lit bar, iffy refreshments and much stuff and nonsense that somehow takes the edge off being in actual lock down. I remain the same well-bred lady during our time together in the upmarket kitchen.

Galen, that blackbird chose a wonderfully cosy spot in which to raise their brood. I've found, in the past, that blackbirds sometimes build nests in inappropriate places, all too accessible by cats.
Funny old weather. Our small town has been spared the deluges I feared, and the only thunder was in the distance. I think the threat has gone now (where's that fingers crossed emoji when I need it?) as the thunder-headache has gone away. I might get out in the garden as I have a packet of Honesty seeds. I have an affection for Honesty, which used to provide us with 'silver coins' to play with as children; and I was leader of the Honesty patrol as a guide - just yesterday, as it seems. But my hands are stiff in the mornings and I might have to wait until they feel like handling a trowel.
Izabella, sorry to hear about your CH's fall. He must be feeling pretty sore even though he hasn't broken anything. He has my sympathy - I had a technicolor hip when I broke my shoulder.
Little Henry must be on the way to becoming Bigger Henry. It's good that he is now getting the attention he should have had long before this.

Dragonfly beautiful peonies, they are one of my favourites.

I have not braved the shops yet, not sure if I shall for some time. I did venture to M&S food hall last week all very civilised. First time in a proper shop since 16th March. Now I just need to put my big girl pants on and brave the garden centre.

Let’s hope that little Henry will get the appropriate treatment from now on.

The sunsets are stunning - we have had grey skies at night lately so no beautiful sunsets. I is lovely that we can see yours.

Another day of lockdown and looking like I will not be able to babysit for my DS's 40th birthday celebrations.
Going for our socially distanced walk in a minute. My DH cannot walk far as he has a painful hip so I bought him a perching stick so he can rest from time to time. There are never benches when you need them.

Morning from a refreshed Shire following a thunderstorm last night.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful sunset pictures that have been posted recently. They instil feelings of solace and and wonder in equal measure. Thank you photographers all. galen your blackbirds too, what a wonderful experience. I am currently enjoying the Crow family developments with the fledglings becoming more confident each day. Sadly CH cannot see them even with the binns. They are now flying between the trees, making lots of noise and still being fed by patents - one of whom greets me and is quite tame - but only for me. Flies off when anyone else approaches.

CH has had a very nasty crashing fall. Slipped on some moss that he did not notice and landed heavily. Yesterday was a trip to A/E, X rays and so on. His hip mercifully is not fractured but the bruising has to be seen to be believed. His shoulder isn't fractured either but he is in extreme pain. He had surgery on it several years ago, and we know a replacement is on the cards at some point. We shall see what today brings.

Hi everyone. I'm back again sorry for my long absence have been very busy with college and other stuff.
College finished on Friday and I went back to work yesterday.
Ellie is growing up fast and we miss being able to physically see her but Skype chats are good.

Well I would just love my own caboose grandmafrench The one you have found sounds wonderful I could live in there. It sounds as though you have made the other kitcheners jealous I think we would need to buy several and transport them all to the seaside for us ladies to have a paddle.?
Unfortunately, I do not manage the Argy thank goodness. That responsibility rests with lemon who is the licensee and chief brewer of the world renown once tasted never forgotten Poteen. soop and I were led astray at a young age by the lure of the music, the saucy sailors and the pungent atmosphere. Once you darken the doorstep there is no escape. Your caboose sounds a lovely peaceful haven (as long as soop doesn’t find out about it ?)
