dragonfly46 Sun 12-Apr-20 22:21:07

How lovely for your daughter kitty. No wonder it made you tearful. We are all improvising at the moment and doing the best we can x.

callgirl1 Mon 13-Apr-20 00:16:32

Lovely pictures of Mila and Wolfie. I`m another who still thought Wolfie was a little baby.
Soop, we`ve watched Torben grow up on this forum, he`s turned into a handsome young man.
Corner, you will be missed, don`t stay away too long.
A great post Panache, very well said.
MawB, that sounds like a lovely afternoon.
Kitty, your grandchildren are amazing, and so perceptive!
I don`t wish to bore you all, but here is a pic of Grace at just turned 6 weeks. At this rate she`ll be walking before I see her again!

Bellanonna Mon 13-Apr-20 07:33:21

Amazing head of hair, Callgitl. She’s lovely.

annsixty Mon 13-Apr-20 08:07:15

corner I saw your post in the middle of the night, another bad one.
I am so sorry that you feel a break is necessary, you have been so supportive of everyone.
I hope you carry on reading and keep up with us and I do hope you will return when you feel ready.

I do notice many long-standing kitcheners are posting less or not at all.
A sign of the awful times we are going through.

Very best wishes from me, may things go well for you.flowers

Bellanonna Mon 13-Apr-20 08:29:10

For you too, ann and everyone else on here ?

Susan56 Mon 13-Apr-20 08:36:57

Kitty, what lovely thoughtful grandchildren??no wonder you were emotional.
Lovely pictures of Grace and Torben??It doesn’t seem five minutes since Grace was born.
Hope your treatment goes well Daisyboots?
Maw,what a good idea??our neighbour suggested a get together when this is all over but I think I will suggest a socially distanced meet up before then.
Corner?and Ann?
Henry is looking a lot better but still very up and down.He is very wary of food and still having reactions but the medication seems to be helping. Its going to be trial and error until the cause is found but we are hoping to hear from the paediatric team tomorrow with further advice.
DD sent me the attached picture yesterday,a rare but very welcome smile on his face.
Thinking of you all.

Bellanonna Mon 13-Apr-20 08:40:10

Henry xx

kittylester Mon 13-Apr-20 09:37:25

How could that picture of Grace be boring call - I think she has a look of you and I wish I'd had that much hair ever!

What a lovely photo of Henry. I hope they get to the bottom of his problems.

Tanith, you must be so proud of that young man.

I must have missed corner being upset. It is really silly that in these times we cant all be kind. We should be in this together.

NanaandGrampy Mon 13-Apr-20 10:10:55

Morning all.

I am sorry I have been missing in action my only excuse is I have been in a hot cross bun and Easter egg induced coma !! Remind me never to stock up for the family visit in advance again. As they have been unable to come I am faced with a mountain of eggs and buns which for the sake of queen and country I am working my way through at a rate of knots !!

Lovely picture of Henry ! That's a keeper. And the photo of Grace too, what beautiful hair she has .

What a lovely suggestion Maw , we enjoyed a lovely 15 mins out chatting across the width of the road last Thursday with neighbours.

Awwww Kitty , kids do the most amazing things don't they ? I would have cried too !! The little boys have been cheering me up and yesterday they sent me the stay safe picture I have added. They also made their own version of the NHS rainbow logo. Funny boys xx

Take care of yourself Corner , we'll be hear waiting for your return.

I know Ive missed loads so I'll just send a TOYA to all and offer round the plate of toasted hot cross buns...save me from myself please !!

Charleygirl5 Mon 13-Apr-20 10:16:03

I think that Henry and Grace are just gorgeous. I may start to match-make so beware!

Tara woke me at 5.30 am today- I put her out at 7 am and then had a blissful 2 and a half hours. I could sleep for Scotland without a thought. I was car parking in London for 2 hours but it could have been worse.

We have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous, beautiful sunshine yesterday, heating on this morning.

soop, happy birthday to the not-so-wee man, Torben. I feel we know him quite well, having followed him since he really was 'a wee man'. My first-born has a birthday today too - 49, to be exact. He was the nicest, easiest, smiliest baby imaginable and is now a lovely, caring son and father. Wish I could be with him today. I felt the separation from family keenly over the weekend, though I am sure I would not be the only one here to feel that way. Easter is a time for family gatherings.
Susan, what a sweet picture of Henry. I hope the medics soon fine an explanation of and solution for his condition. And callgirl, Grace looks a real sweetie. You must be aching for a cuddle. If we all behave and keep ourselves out of circulation, maybe...maybe we will be seeing our grandchildren by summer. sunshine
It's a bright and blowy Monday here in Cheshire. I hope we all find something today to keep our spirits up.

dragonfly46 Mon 13-Apr-20 12:10:37

What lovely pictures of all the grandchildren and so sad we can't be with them.

I had a lovely call from a lady at the County Council today asking if I had everything I need and did I need a food delivery or someone to talk to. Apparently the government have instructed the various councils to do this.

How is your son doing callgirl - I often think of him.
Sorry you are leaving us for a bit corner, look forward to seeing you when you come back.

Charleygirl5 Mon 13-Apr-20 12:31:40

soop happy birthday Torben- I also feel I have "known" that young man from a very early age.

The sun is out but there is a nip in the air.

Sunny Easter Monday greetings to our lovely Kitcheners. There is barely a whisper of a cloud in the sky. A day for you know what. Wet garden is the focus of my attention and energy today.

dragonfly There is a plethora of kindness surrounding us. smile

anno This weekend, we would have been with our family for the annual gathering. I like to think of it as being a time of extended anticipation. The celebration will be the reward for "doing as we're told" - as my mother used to say.

Charleyg As far as Tara is concerned...life continues according to her preferences. wink

Wonderful photos. Grace is a darling. I love her hair.
Henry's sparkling smile is a sure winner.
The Boys are champions, N&G

kitty what a lovely gesture on behalf of your daughter and her partner. Prize winning children. They deserve a big thank you.

corner I have also missed the reason why you will be taking a break from GN. We all enjoy your company. Please return to the kitchen when you need company. flowers

ann I've missed your visits recently. Please remain in touch with us. You are a lovely lady.

soop Mon 13-Apr-20 13:35:35

We've had some chocolate egg and we've a left over hot cross bun for later. Such treats! grin

I'm away to continue work in the wet garden. A host of wild yellow Iris will be flowering soon. MacS says that he needs to thin the Gunnera. They grow to be enormous and the leaves reach up into the lower branches of the trees. When, in the autumn, the time comes to cut away all the dead foliage and vast seed heads, a saw needs to be used.

I took a photo of the sunset last night. When I've uploaded it, I shall share.

Charleygirl5 Mon 13-Apr-20 13:55:40

N&G that pair know how to entertain themselves! Thankfully I do not like hot cross buns so you may have my share. I cannot say the same about bars of chocolate, those is mine and not for sharing.

Smileless2012 Mon 13-Apr-20 14:28:19

Afternoon fellow kicheners, it's lovely to see photo's of your lovely grand childrensmile.

Henry's looking happy Susan what a huge relief for you all.

Another beautiful picture of Grace callgirl

Same here Charleygirl it's really cold. The only one in our household who likes the down turn in temperature is Dylan because the radiator in the kitchen diner where his hammock is, is on and he's all fast asleep.

Smileless2012 Mon 13-Apr-20 14:30:22

It’s not a bad life is it

Charleygirl5 Mon 13-Apr-20 14:35:39

Dylan sounds to be extremely comfortable! My heating turned itself off at 10 am and with luck, but I doubt it, I will not need it switched on until it clicks on at 6 pm.

Be careful folks, so many people are working from home printing ink is difficult to find. A bit different from loo rolls!

mbmb Mon 13-Apr-20 14:56:54

I haven't posted much recently as I've been feeling rotten with a UTI. I suffer from recurrent infections and have been on a daily antibiotic which has helped but have now had a 'breakthrough'. On a different antibiotic but going on past experience it could drag on and need a different 'cocktail.' Hey ho.
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the refuge of the kitchen. Like many of you, I live alone, far from family and find that I have good days and bad days. I love reading about everyone's families and pets. It's a heartening reminder that life goes on, no matter what. The kindness of posters is even more important in this upside down world.

Carillion01 Mon 13-Apr-20 15:33:03

mbmb xx???

Dear kitchen, I can't keep up with these lovely photos. They are wonderful. They gladden the heart and make us value what we have and realise there really is a future after this sad and difficult time.

Hello lins, yes, I'll be tuning into President Macron tonight. I'll be watching him on France24 and anticipating an explanation of how further, valuable precautions might be introduced.

corner. ?????
morethan, hope all's well. Xxx?

soop Mon 13-Apr-20 16:56:27

Dear mbmb I would love to travel to spend some proper time with you. I really do sympathise with the way you are feeling. UTI's are a bloody curse. I have had so many I've lost count of the different anti-bios. I am sending you a special comforting (hug) and hoping that you feel a whole lot better very soon. flowers

soop Mon 13-Apr-20 17:10:46

Hello, Carillion. We await the UK update. All I can say right now is, THANK you for the sunshine and a garden in which to work my socks off.

Smileless Dylan knows the meaning of "relax". Mind you, some might call that "stressed". grin

Charleyg And there was I thinking that we are mates. Mates share their goodies, chocolate in particular. I shall need to call on N&G She apparently has far too much of the stuff.

Another day of serious gardening done and results looking real good. I cannot say the same for the hoos. The dust will wait another day or so. I've yet to discover a dust-free room for longer than it takes to swipe the duster and put it back in the cupboard.

Off for a wash and brush-up. I shall be with you all again tomorrow. Please stay safe and remember, this situation will eventually pass and our lives will return to some semblance of normality.

Here is last night's sunset. I took the photo through the window.

smile moon

Lins1066 Mon 13-Apr-20 17:11:24

Hello everyone. What gorgeous photos, they definitely raise the spirits.
It is very sunny but there is a stiff breeze which is drying the washing a treat.
Mafeking has been relieved, we have had an Asda delivery this afternoon. Some substitutions but that's fine, no hand soap though. The delivery driver was very good, thanked him through the window. He said that he left the frozen food in the bags nearest the front door so that I could put them in the freezer first.
I have washed and bleached packaging etc - even washed the kiwi fruit.

Sorry you've been ill mbmb hopefully they'll find the right antibiotic for you soon.
I too will miss corner very much ?
