Gransnet may cancel or amend any competition, competition information, or these terms and conditions without prior notice. Any changes will be posted either within the competition information or these terms and conditions.

All entries must be made using the form on the relevant competition page. Entries cannot be returned to those participating.

No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are lost or delayed, or which are not received for any reason.

Only one entry per person.

The closing date for the competition, unless otherwise stated, is 31st July 2016.

The winner will be offered a contract for World English rights with Bobaloo Books to publish their book, subject to usual industry terms and negotiations.

These will include moral rights as follows:

The Proprietor hereby asserts to the Publisher and to its licensees the Author’s moral rights of paternity in the Work to be identified as Author and the Publisher undertakes to print on the copyright page with due prominence on every edition of the work or under licence the words ‘the right of (author) to be identified as the Author of this Work has been asserted by (author) in accordance with the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988’.

Any other provisions notwithstanding, the Proprietor hereby consents to any digest or condensation of the Work or use of parts of the Work (whether serially or otherwise) to enable the Publisher to exercise the rights granted to them under Clauses relating to Other Subsidiary Rights.

Further contractual details subject to the usual negotiation process between author and publisher.

Their book will be published in spring 2017. They will receive advice on how to build their profile as a writer, as well as the editing, design, illustration, print, sales, marketing and distribution from Bobaloo Books. Ten runners up will receive signed copies of Doris Morris by Janet Kelly, and feedback on their entries, with guidance on how to progress in their writing career. The prize is not exchangeable for cash or any other prize.

If, for any reason, an advertised prize is not available, we reserve the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.

Incorrectly completed entries or entries not in compliance with the entry criteria and these terms and conditions will be disqualified.

Your details will be collected via encrypted data solely for the purposes of this competition and deleted on reversion of rights to you as stated. Details for shortlisted and winning authors will be retained for ongoing and archival purposes but will not be transferred to any unconnected third parties.

The rules of this competition are governed by UK law and entry is conditional on acceptance of these terms and conditions which may be amended at any time by Gransnset.
