The least they could do is supply a replacement at half price. Which is what Amazon did when I dropped my kindle.

Thanks mrsmopp and lefthanded. I will try Trading Standards as I do think an E reader should last longer than 15 months. I will also try W.H. Smith/ Kobo online . Can always hope!

A couple of years ago our television failed just after the 12-month warranty ended. I contacted Tesco where we had bought it and they agreed that a TV should last more than 13 months so they refunded 75% of the purchase cost. Seemed very fair to me.

I think we have all bought things that have conked out as soon as the warranty has expired and yes, it's annoying. I bought a rechargeable sweeper from Woolworths which packed up after a year and a day. At the same time as Woolworths ceased trading too. The manufacturer was not interested.
Maybe these things are programmed to self destruct at that exact point in the hope we will run out and get another one.
Check with your Trading standards office as I think your complaint is fair and products should be fit for purpose.

Has anyone else had a problem with a Kobo E reader? I tried to charge mine on my Lap Top and realised that there was a fault where the cable fits into the Kobo. It would not charge at all. After reporting this to W. H. Smith ,I rang Kobo care, but was informed that they could do nothing because the Kobo was 3 months out of warranty. Needless to say, I'm not
happy as I cannot afford to replace it --- and I was halfway through reading a great Gervase Phinn Book. Am I being unreasonable to think that 15months is the life span of my Kobo?
