BOGOF?

Years ago my Mil insisted on ordering for me a many compartmented plastic shoulder bag. It came in a variety of colours. The cream one had tweedy type sides and was the least offensive. I plumped for that and it came and kept on coming in every colour they made. They wouldn't stop. I took them to charity shops far and wide. They did stop in the end. Probably bankrupt

We had hens years ago and I remember one day we had moved the hen house approx. 4ft. One evening, dressed to go out for dinner, I went out to,lock them up for the night to discover them lying down and settling on the spot where the hen house had been. That was fun, running about in my finery trying to get them safely locked up before going out.

Another time, the foxes had visited and after seeing the carnage, I had two very distraught young daughters in tears on the way to school.

I am reminded of a family memory that we have laughed/cried over for twenty years. Our mum had ordered beautiful crystal goblets for my oldest sister's wedding gift but received two sets. Poor Mama wasted weeks trying to return them, call, and so forth but finally had to give up.

Long forgotten this was until another sister's bridal shower some two years later. Sweet Mom was now suffering from Huntington's Disease and her comments had started to become "unfiltered."

Imagine our shock (and in later years, hilarity) when, after much exclamation about the beautiful gift among tens of unknown women in a very sedate elegant setting, Mom blurted out very loudly across the gathering:

"Grand Theft: Macy's"!!!!

Such a lot of G'netters seem to keep hens! I like them [or I think I do, I certainly like eggs] but we don't have the garden space for them as DH would never give up an inch of 'flower' room.So if someone starts a thread about them , I for one, would read it with interest, just in case we ever did get some.So how many have you got, do you give them names?

We actually do need a bigger shed. When we ordered one 3 yrs ago I kept telling DH what he was ordering wasn't bit enough, but, would he listen? Three yrs on, he is telling me we need a bigger shed!!!

Aka Merlot I got 2 fridges from Comet like this. I've written about it before - I tried my best to decline and then return the second one, and then gave up because I had spent hours and never had the privilege of speaking to an actual human being.

The duplicate delivery came in very handy when the first one packed up.

I truly think it has to do with everything being automated.

When you get it, would you mind bringing it to Switzerland- we need one. I'll pay for petrol ;)

This happened to us years ago when Courts (remember them?) delivered a flat pack shelving unit for DS's new bedroom. Three days later we came back from shopping to find an identical unit leaning against the wall in the car port.

Did we struggle with our consciences?........Nope!!

This happened to me with an online firm when I ordered a lamp table; firstly it didn't arrive when it should have done, and the following week 2 arrived at the same time.I had to be quite firm with the delivery driver that I had only ordered one table.To make sure they actually got it back, I rang the firm and told them what had happened.They were supremely disinterested.Sometimes it hardly pays to be honest.Who knows what happened to the spare table, it's anyone's guess.
