Can I join in, even if though I'm not a 'Gran'?

I've come over from the 'other place'.
Like others, I tried to log in to MN this morning and it won't let me (I don't think I've said anything I shouldn't have, or had any arguments that I know of shock )
I think it's because they are making everybody get new passwords (what with their 'problems' and all)
I can't get a password reset as I don't remember the email address I registered with, which is a fat lot of good. confused Anyway, I don't really feel 'safe' on there at the moment, so won't be trying too hard to get back on there for a while.

I remembered that I'd joined Gransnet a while ago, but hadn't used it much at the time, because I felt like a bit of a fake - what with not even having any grandchildren of my own- even though I'm the right age hmm.
Are there many that post on here, who also aren't 'grans'?
I hope it's alright to be on here. It seems like a nice place. Not as intense as MN, but still with interesting subjects to discuss.
On the other hand, NetMums seems too twee for me.
Thanks.

I always feel like I've lost some of the day if I go to bed early. Eleven is early for me, but I suppose it's swings and roundabouts. If you go to bed early, then rise with the lark, then you get just as long a day as those who go late and sleep later in the morning. All the years I was a teacher, though, I went to bed after midnight, and was up at 6.30. I am more creative at night, and can compose letters, write poetry etc. m
My neighbour always knew when it was report card time, as my lights were on until long after midnight. Different things for different people!

Can I say how much I enjoy GN, look forward to reading the forums. GC now in their 20s, so I am older than most,79 in fact. Had a laugh about DHs -keep the stories coming!

Just because people might get ready for bed about 9.30 it doesn't mean
They go to bed early. I get ready for bed earlier than that and take my make up off etc then settle down with my iPad and play scrabble or Candy Crush, check emails etc. that's when I'm not out dancing.

Rusty, There was a free book? I didn't know that.

On the subject of larks and owls, I would love to be a lark - I'm envious. There's something appealing about getting up really early when everything's peaceful and quiet and still. It sounds so nice.
The reality for me is, I always feel like I've been run over by a truck if I even attempt to get up before 6am and it takes about 3 buckets of tea to make me feel normal!

snowberryZ Thu 20-Aug-15 18:00:13

Just checked in.
I'm a night owl as well, l so definitely won't be going to bed before 12! smile

I'm another MN refugee - not going back there till things have settled down a bit, or I'll run out of memorable passwords!

I actually joined GN when it first started just to get the free book but haven't posted much. But I get the newsletter emails and though I still don't have grandchildren, I've been looking at some of the highlighted threads and I'm beginning to find them more interesting than a lot of MN!

I'm joining the Owl team, by the way...

I think all that excitement (ie what time you go to bed) was too much for SnowberryZ.

downtoearth Thu 20-Aug-15 11:14:52

I'm always up for a lark grin

Gagagran Thu 20-Aug-15 06:52:46

Seems to be a preponderance of owls on this thread - if that is the right collective noun for owls. I am a lark and was up at 5.30am this morning as I often am. I feel more energised in a morning and evenings are a definite wind-down time for me. Isn't it to do with individual circadian rhythms? Bags will know. wink

Anya Thu 20-Aug-15 06:38:22

Hope not though.

Anya Thu 20-Aug-15 06:37:41

I expect we've driven snowberry back to The Other Side after that scintillating discussion!

kittylester Thu 20-Aug-15 06:36:24

I'm another lark! We are usually drinking our first cup of tea around 6.15.

Welcome snowberryz - just look what you started! grin

thatbags Thu 20-Aug-15 06:26:34

Is one supposed to think about going to sleep? I never knew that. Seems I'm doing it all wrong wink

Indinana Wed 19-Aug-15 23:15:34

I'm still here too! Mind you, I am beginning to think I ought to begin to think about going to bed, where I might sit up and read for a while before I begin to think about actually going to sleep wink

merlotgran Wed 19-Aug-15 22:28:28

I'm still here because my problem is I love late nights and early mornings.

I must have been a nightmare baby grin

Ana Wed 19-Aug-15 22:22:35

I'm still here, soontobe, and nowhere near getting my nightie on yet! grin

thatbags Wed 19-Aug-15 21:39:37

Having a late night (till 2200 maybe) cos I had a nap this afternoon. Nice to meet another lark, downtoearth smile

Ana Wed 19-Aug-15 21:35:41

Night night smile

downtoearth Wed 19-Aug-15 21:34:02

I have always been a lark I love the early morning when the day is all fresh. I like to get on with the cleaning and the washing before the energy runs out....But OH has to bring me a cuppa first.....well is now past my bedtime dog is giving me dirty looks ..so am off up the wooden hill I wish you all a good night and pleasant dreamsmoon

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 19-Aug-15 21:20:03

Bags you are very^young^. And of course you do spend an inordinate amount of time hacking and slaying in the wilds of the North.

I hate the cold grey light of dawn with a vengeance and would rather be in bed with a sock over my eyes to keep it out, and the World Service in my ear holes to keep me anaesthetised not see it.

Ana Wed 19-Aug-15 21:00:35

Only half an hour until yours anyway, soontobe! About time you started getting ready for it now, isn't it? grin

soontobe Wed 19-Aug-15 20:58:22

I find looking at patterns of things fascinating. Always have.
I will remember in future that you are not in bed between 9.30pm and 10.30pm Ana.

I dont think that snowberryz will be the least bit interested in this, so I think I will stop posting on here about bedtimes now.

Charleygirl Wed 19-Aug-15 20:56:54

8thatbags* If I was asleep by 9.30pm I would be up at 2 am bright as a button and there are not too many shops open, even in London.

I switch off my light between midnight and 1am.

I am going to watch TV before the rest of you fall asleep reading this malarkey.

thatbags Wed 19-Aug-15 20:39:01

I'm sometimes asleep by 9:30! I count that as getting on with real life wink

I don't think any of us quite knew what we were letting ourselves in for when we joined Gransnet.

Welcome, snowberryz. What on earth have you done over in the Other Place that you don't feel safe there?!?! shock (you don't have to answer that smile)
