Parking? Grr....
We have a shared drive. When we first moved in, we paid several thousand pounds to turn the top end of our front garden into a parking bay for our own two cars because the drive slopes down to the two houses rather steeply. My neighbour then thought it gave her carte blance to use the whole drive for herself. Her logic is, 'Well, you park your cars on your hardstanding!' Apparently we don't need access to our drive although it is our property. This evening she had visitors who completely blocked the drive so I had to ask her to ask them to move their car because my son needed access to the drive as he was bringing DGS. Reluctanly, she agreed. This has happened on numerous ocassions. She doesn't drive and, having no car of her own, she used to rent out her part of the drive to a woman who worked locally. The woman was a terrible driver and once reversed hard up the drive and hit my car where it was parked on my hard standing! We love our house and have no intention of moving but it has caused a lot of bad feeling between us.
.Visitors can park in the road with a visitor voucher which can be obtained very cheaply. However, she seems reluctant to go along with this. Of course,we are the 'bad guys' and she feels 'victimised' as she is a widow ( albeit a wealthy one) and lives alone.
