don't be so grumpy bluebelle . This IS the AIBU board, isn't this what it's about. And it's not warm weather, that's my point, it's too hot.
I would like to meet here someone from eastern Europe

I'm sitting here, sweating. Not even doing anything, just melting like an ice lolly. I haven't got the energy to do anything. Roll on the end of the week and sensible weather.

JackieB we get about one week a YEAR like this .....a bit different for you over there so no I don't expect to hear any groaning and moaning We put up with grey miserably rainy days most of our lives and as soon as the sun comes out everyone starts complaining
Bring on some fantastic sunny, blue skies, warm days
I am in California at the moment visiting DGS and it is over 40 degrees. We are keeping to indoors with the aircon on. Even the locals are complaining. I don't think it's unreasonable to complain,as long as you don't complain when it's cold as well, as Missadventure says.
I can't stand it when people moan about the few good days we have, you can count our warm days on our one hand and still there are moans and groans
It's wonderful to have a proper summer day (even if it's only a week) to wake up to sunshine and feel some warmth in your bones People are smiling, the kids are out in the fresh air and my body is saying thank you thank you
Don't worry we ll be back to grey cold miserable days in a heart beat
Tizliz I saw your temperatures on the weather forecast - what a difference!
DH's weather station measured 37C outside in the garden!!
This morning I vacuumed and cleaned the floors downstairs (just a quick mop) in preparation for a little person visiting tomorrow but now he can't come
.
I didn't want to send him home to mummy filthy from my neglected floors!
Today I bought a pure wool, winter coat in our M&S outlet. I looked ridiculous trying it on, as everyone around was melting. It was originally £100, but I only paid £14, so I willing to suffer for the sake of a bargain!
Just the word "fleece" has made me sweat! Have the fan going, which dries my mouth out in the night, laying on top of the bed: its awful!
What hot weather ? Didn't get over 16 deg here in the very far north. I was wearing a fleece in the office and thick socks.
Luckygirl who nearly melted?! Did you offer him a Diet Coke?
It's hotter here tonight than last night. Thermostat shows 27.5 degrees. Told my DH not to be freaked out if he sees a large naked lady during the night!

I thought a temperate climate meant no extremes?
Today has been extremely hot (34C in our large, dry garden)
I am the only fit member of the 'team' at the moment which means an extremely early start - 5.30am to keep the whole shebang alive with extreme watering.
The dogs are extremely fed up.
DH is extremely grumpy.
I'm spending an extremely long time in the middle of the day slumped in any cool spot I can find until it's time to go back out there when things cool down a bit.
I'm extremely knackered so I'm keeping going with copious amounts of gin and tonic.
Extreme measures
It is too much for me. We did get a light cloud cover today which helped a bit.
It's extremely hot even here in the frozen north. The big dog took herself off to the coolest place in he house at 7pm and hasn't moved since.
I couldn't say I hate it - think of those years when we were still waiting for summer and it finally arrived in mid-September? When every single fête, barbecue, school sports, agricultural show was a wash out? You could never count on the sun to shine.
However our problem in the UK is that you rarely get long enough of extreme heat (or cold) to acclimatise so just as we start to cope with it, it changes back and so on.
But that said, is it just me or is tonight hotter than ever?
I am dripping (TMI) and can barely drag myself upstairs!
I am moaning about this heat at 32C in my part of London but I will be complaining about the cold in a few months time. I cannot do anything in this weather. I think that it may have dropped to 27C to allow me to sleep tonight. There is no pleasing me. My neighbours had their heating on a few days ago when I was sitting outside sunbathing.
35 in the shade here today!
Too much, trying to stay cool and forgetting about housework, all I have done today is put a wash on, hung it out to dry, made the bed , made some ( scrappy) dinner this evening and drunk two glasses of iced champagne, a gallon of iced water and lemonade.Had two cool showers.
The only weather that I can't stop myself moaning about is rain, rain, rain, more rain, grey skies and more rain, especially cold, wind blasted rain.
Anything else, I welcome. This heat is intense, I tried to sit in the shade and read, failed. Tried to do a but of weeding in the shade, failed. Lay on my be with a book, fell asleep - result.
it is tough for toddlers though. And for those with health problems made worse by intense heat. We just aren't kitted out for extremes are we?
I live very close to the sea and the was a lovely breeze this evening when I took the children for a walk (well they scooted, I walked) . Mind you this weekend has been unusually still with little or no breeze which is almost unknown for the North Sea coast.
So warm in the bedrooms that I have had to give up my precious Dyson fan to the children for their room.
Apparently it is going to be a lot cooler tomorrow.
I wont complain when its cold. Even when there is snow.. I just hate this weather!
I love this weather, but im on the coast so slightly cooler
I think we have to make the most of it
My son lives in Spain and says its unbearable though ,its in the high 40s, this coming from a sum worshipper, praying for rain
It has been a challenge today caring for my 4 year old DGD. She had hardly slept the night before as it is very hot in their house; and she was not a ray of sunshine - even the paddling pool failed to measure up. But eventually she dropped off to sleep (don't tell Mum!!!) and woke up a bit sunnier. But today has been very hard work indeed for me - so hot and not possible to hide away in a shady corner.
We have had a young workman here all day clearing gutters and sanding the decking rails - he nearly melted!
I don't cope with this extreme heat. It would be OK by the sea or country but not in London, especially public transport - I was on train and bus today. One bonus of retirement is not suffering commuting in the heat and no 8 hours a day in a boiling office.
Love this weather and making the most of it. It won't last long and then many will be back moaning about the cold and damp.
No you are not being unreasonable Maisie, I too am longing for cooler weather especially overnight. I am quite happy with a temperature of 22-25 degrees, what's wrong with that coupled with a cloudless sky, anything over that and I cannot be bothered to function. Lillie, really feel for you having to travel on the tube in this. So looking forward to Thursday when it is supposed to cool down. Also heard on the local news that South West trains are going to be up the creek, the lines are buckling!
Yes YABU
We must value these days and remember them throughout the year when we are freezing cold and wet, trying to mop up after floods and need helicopters to drop supplies because we are snowed in and the electrics are down due to the weight of snow on the cancer-causing pylon cables and the wind has felled the trees so the snow-ploughs can't get through so the engineers can't repair them and ... and ....
No joke I know, but without our extremes of weather what would we have to talk about other than the pitiful service from our local councils in return for astronomical community charges - that's if we still have internet connections of course
Keep calm and carry on? Bah humbug! This is the 21st century AD and nature still wins, thank goodness
Cheers!
