They probably watch towie (the only way is essex)with their mothers as it's well known that at least one of the girls has a designer vagina on that show and I seem to recall ready g or hearing that there is a salon on same show that does the prfocedure.
Doing ask me what it entails though . I don't know and dread to think

That even one 9 year old girl has inquired about these operations is mind boggling, but given how many 9 year old girls there are in the country (nearly 500,000?) so unrepresentative of 9 year old girls as a whole.

All I can say is I have no idea whether my genitalia meet any standards of normality or beauty or otherwise, all I know is that there have never been any complaints shock blush grin

I'm speechless.

And there's something very wrong if 9 year old girls have boyfriends, never mind letting them see their naked bodies!

Pittcity Mon 03-Jul-17 17:35:12

If any boyfriend is worried about (or even notices) what you look like then they are not worth it.

MissAdventure Mon 03-Jul-17 17:28:53

I dont think I ever even saw 'down there' on myself until I was in my forties (don't ask!)

BlueBelle Mon 03-Jul-17 17:18:58

I was shocked when I heard this and I don't shock easily
It must be down to the mothers surely and what they are showing or teaching their kids, like others have said I would have had no standard to live up to as I never saw others bits as a teen or even a young woman or in fact even an old woman I have no interest in other peoples bits and bobs

Charleygirl Mon 03-Jul-17 17:17:35

I was well into my teens before I discovered what different parts of the anatomy were called- my mother certainly did not tell me.

Oh Oriel, it's hard to believe isn't it, glad I don't have young children, & worried for our grandchildren & future generations.

norose4 Mon 03-Jul-17 17:07:19

At that age I had no idea what my 'bits' looked like & I still wouldn't know now how they would compare to others or the 'norm' or the desired shape what ever. I am definitely getting old as I said before what a sad sad world .

Oriel Mon 03-Jul-17 17:04:43

I saw something on TV recently where a woman was complaining that her labia wasn't neat as she'd like it to be. She compared it to a burger with salad hanging out - she wanted it to be like a burger without dressing showing outside...

She had an operation to remove some of the length of the inner lips but she was still unhappy.

I can't imagine where girls aged 9 would see anything to compare themselves with.

All in all it's FGM - albeit carried out on a willing 'victim'

Ana Mon 03-Jul-17 17:01:31

These children can't be 'seeking labiaplasty procedures' all on their own - surely a mother or other appropriate adult is seeking it on their behalf, which is shocking!

norose4 Mon 03-Jul-17 17:01:27

Where will it all end Rigby, it really is dreadful, can't believe sufferggettes died for woman to have the vote & woman's lib championed equality for woman & yet somehow are young girls are still being sexualised & in the most extreme perverted ways. What has our society achieved if girls are willing to take such measure in order to be more pleasing to a man ?

Riverwalk Mon 03-Jul-17 16:55:51

I'd be interested to know just how many nine year-olds are seeking such surgery.

And for the umpteenth time ... the vagina is not the labia and I doubt if there is a single child who is seeking surgery on her vagina!

Are there still grandmothers who don't know the difference?

I read an article about this two years ago - some people blame it on the easy availability of porn where girls and young men see photos of shaved female genitalia of a certain kind and believe that what the girls have is not 'normal'. The ethics of any medical practitioner carrying out this kind of surgery are clearly highly questionable and it should not be allowed ethically except for genuine medical reasons. However, the article said there is a thriving trade and much money to be made. Truly shocking

What a sad world we live in

ninathenana Mon 03-Jul-17 16:18:23

It's incredibly sad that they even know these things

The BBC online news reported that The Victoria Derbyshire show were discussing girls as young nine seeking vagina surgery.
They were requesting Labiaplasty procedures

According to Dr. Naomi Crouch (who chairs the British Society paediatric and Adolescent gynaecology )
She has yet to see young girl that requires such a procedure.

What are these little girls watching or reading??shocksad
