To think we should have been told about this modification.

We were told that there is no option now and that all cars will be keyless, we told the salesman we wouldn't be renewing the car and would keep our existing one in that case.

Sad to say but if someone really wants your car they will have it.
They are one step ahead of every gysmo the manufacturers bring out.

I was once to be seen in the supermarket car park trying to persuade my keyless car to let me in! Even waving the bloody thing at it to convince it.
Had to walk home with the shopping about 2and a half miles because I’d left a message for my husband to come and get me so I kept expecting him to appear! Unfortunately he’d been in the shower so hadn’t heard the phone.
I think the the manufacturer was remiss in its duty to inform you of the potential risk.

Staying with DD and SIL once I was warned about leaving my car keys on the hall table. Quite flattering really as my car is a 5 year old Skoda and they had her Land Rover Sport and his Maserati on the drive.
I didn’t really think my Skoda was at too much risk!

I am often glad that my car is so old, no car thief in his right mind would ever think it worth the bother of nicking it.

Although my car key is a “fob” you can also use the ignition (manual) key to ulock the doors . Seems sensible.

Our friend could not drive her car last week because the battery had died! It was a Sunday and no shops open and DH did not have exactly the right one in his stash.

If manufacturers are aware it seems odd not to develop some protection or , as you say, let prospective owners know what they can do to minimise risk!
