What irritates you?

Aww I can really sympathise with those who have hair loss,here. I don't care what anyone says,it's upsetting and if you dwelt on it I'm sure you'd end up in a deep depression.
When I was 50 my hair was thick,wavy and full of corkscrew curls ( natural ) 28 years later it's waving goodbye. I feel like crying sometimes as I thought for sure I'd hang on to my crowning glory--------then I stop in my tracks thinking of the poor souls who've lost theirs through chemo and severe illness. I need a jolt at times !
( my hairbrush gets full of it as do the brushes in the hoover, boo hoo ) Stoppit !!

Virtue signalling. Isn’t there something in the bible about not needing people with torches walking before you to light up your good deeds? Who needs torches when you’ve got social media?

Though I guess I’m just a grumpy old woman, and it’s better to brag about your good deeds than not do them at all.

Oh, EllanV, there are folk who would say all of us on this thread are mardy individuals! But, if I am, I don't care and have just been reminded of another irritant - the growing use in news reports of the term "lawmakers" when referring to MPs, MSPs, MEPS, etc. I don't know why it infuriates me, it just does.

Oh, and those ads aimed at the brain dead which tell you the price is "only five nine nine". Are we reckoned too stupid to comprehend five hundred and ninety nine? Is there anyone here from the ad industry who could explain this one because it has me grinding my teeth with rage?

Another one with hair envy here. I didn't add it as something that irritates me though. It's far more than an irritation as mine has all gone now. Anyway, back to irritations ...

Oh Jaxie I am struggling with thinning hair too, CW's hair is so luxuriant, that in itself is an irritation. ( jealousy is a funny thing isn't it ?)

Lancs1lass1, I'm a Lancs lass too. I get into trouble for blunt speaking, having the nerve to say what other people think. Head & Shoulders is the shampoo. I've just had a word with myself: I reckon I'm deeply envious of Claudia Winkelman's abundant hair ( mine is very fine and thinning rapidly).

I agree with most of the irritants listed, we all seem to object to so many of the same things. Is it our age, gender, vast life experience and wisdom or are we just grumpy old women?

People who play their music so loudly outdoors or in their cars (with windows down) that others have to suffer it.

Even worse, travelling in a car when the driver has the radio on, but so low that everything is unintelligible. If it has to be on I want to hear it, not just a whiny noise in the background. If you can't hear it properly, turn it off!

Bright red lipstick, especially on TV presenters.
I'm not a fan of make-up in general but especially not of bright red lipstick.

I agree with most of the above but no one has mentioned that awful droning, humming, two or three note repetitive plinky plonk that is in the background of most TV and radio programmes. I actually had to turn the sound down on David Attenborough's excellent Dynasty programme the other night and put sub titles on because it was driving me crazy and I wanted to watch! I am also fascinated by the Brian Cox series 'Human Universe' but there it is again. WHY?

Unfortunately there are no sub titles for radio. I listen to Radio 4 a lot. Why do they need these sounds, even when reading a simple story just to alert us to a change of setting or chapter? The words make it clear enough.

Sometimes I have to turn of programmes that really interest me as I find myself screaming 'shut up!' at them and losing what they are actually saying.

Is it just me...? Sorry to anyone who hasn't noticed it before and in future suffers my stress!

At the dentist's, when the receptionist suggests an appointment on some date a couple of months ahead and I have to ask "What day of the week is that?"
How am I supposed to know if 19th Feb, or whatever, will be suitable without at least the clue that it's a Monday?

Graffiti tagging all over the place..marking territory I guess ..hate the selfish self importance of it

It's great to have a moan about all these little annoying things. Of course there are people with great difficulties in their lives and we should all be thankful for the positive things in our own lives but it's fine to be a bit light hearted and tongue in cheek now and then.

So! Why are some people so slow to pull away when the traffic lights turn green? What are they doing while they wait? Filing their nails or something? Don't they know there's a queue of cars behind them who'd like to get through before the next red light?

Have driving instructors stopped teaching their pupils how to use a roundabout? Give way to traffic on your right, people! Don't drive on to the roundabout if your way ahead isn't clear. Fume! Fume! Grr....

People saying REEsearch instead of reSEARCH. Drives me mad.

People who dither in car parks, esp. multi storey ones, blocking the way while they wait for someone to,leave - when any idiot can see plenty of spaces on the next level. Same person will then take 14 manoeuvres to back the car into a space they could easily have driven into front first.

People who sit by the window on crowded buses, plonk their bag on the other seat, and then pretend to be so engrossed in their effing phones to notice several people standing, who are too polite/reticent to ask them to move their bag. (I do not fall into the 'too polite/reticent' category.)

About a million other things, but I'm off to bed now, with a cup,of tea and a book.

People who use can't use a knife and fork properly. People who use a knife and fork to cut their food, then just eat with a fork - I blame American films.
People who talk with relish about their health problems, it's been my experience that those who have reason to complain rarely do.
