I can be heard shouting at the TV when actors hold cups/mugs around the outside instead of using the handle properly.

Hugging a cushion elicits the same reaction from me.

MissAdventure Wed 14-Nov-18 16:14:19

Somebody mentioned hiccups.
They annoy the hell out of me, and I've no idea why.

Lancslass1 Wed 14-Nov-18 16:12:33

How many of us are feeling smug now because we realise that we are not going to annoy the people who have previously commented because we are not guilty of any of the above?

Lancslass1 Wed 14-Nov-18 16:10:02

I could"of" done something.
"At this moment in time " instead of "now"

(Please tell me the name of the shampoo Claudia Winkleman buys and then I can avoid it.)

People who call experiences they've had 'a journey'.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 14-Nov-18 16:06:35

Thirdinline everything about the A12 irritates me ????

Thirdinline Wed 14-Nov-18 15:52:44

Some things when driving: people who don’t indicate when approaching, or on roundabouts
Drivers who see the road sign saying their Lane is about to close, but still bomb up it as far as they can & expect people at the front of the queue to let them in.
Drivers who sit in the overtaking lane, going 5 miles under the speed limit, especially on dual carriageways (A12)

Notthecatsmother Wed 14-Nov-18 15:44:30

Cyclists who ride on the pavement coming up behind you without making any noise. I have had so many near misses. Don't they have bells any more?

Scribbles Wed 14-Nov-18 15:30:11

Bag packers in supermarkets who put a load of cans plus 5kg of potatoes on top of a box of cream cakes. *&%!?#!!

Nonnatimesfour Wed 14-Nov-18 15:18:38

People punctuating their sentences with 'I was like ...'
The phrase ' raising awareness'
The phrase 'on trend'
T.V. presenters saying 'somethink' and 'nothink' instead of something, nothing.
Bag packers in supermarkets who put all the tinned and heavy stuff in one bag!
and many more ......

Scribbles Wed 14-Nov-18 15:14:06

grin Granless

When I am browsing a shelf in a shop and someone decides it’s ok to walk, not behind me, but between me and the shelf - bad manners comes to mind. I have been known, if quick enough, to step forward and block them - you naughty girl.

Marthjolly1 Wed 14-Nov-18 15:00:08

And people who put their feet on seats, mostly on trains.

sharon103 Wed 14-Nov-18 14:56:36

Things that grate on my nerves are being called Hun, Noisy eaters, newspapers naming policemen 'cops', hearing mobile conversations when I'm on the bus, getting interrogated as to why I didn't answer the phone when so and so called me and I didn't answer the call, or that so and so knocked the door but I didn't open it. Don't these people ever think that I was not at home! Grrr. Being in a very long queue in the Building Society or bank when a customer's telling the cashier their life story, all about their holidays and family etc, and there's no chance of getting to the front of the queue today and that applies to the check out at the supermarkets too. Liars who think I'm daft enough to believe them. Yes I know I'm getting to be a moaning Minnie as I get older. lol

Jaysensnanna Wed 14-Nov-18 14:45:30

Crinkly crisp packets, I appreciate that they aren't the quietest of things but I'm sure people do it deliberately.....and why do people hold a mobile phone in front of them when they are having a conversation, nobody else wants to know what they did last night or what they going to have for tea tonight.....grrrr

Grandmama Wed 14-Nov-18 14:25:17

What irritates me is DH shouting at the TV because it's irritated him.

Jaxie Wed 14-Nov-18 14:23:19

That ad for shampoo currently on tv where Claudia Winkleman fiddles with her hair looking smug. How she sees past her fringe is beyond me.

cakebaker Wed 14-Nov-18 14:18:13

I really try not to get annoyed at little things; life’s too short. But I must admit it really grates when people say I was stood or I was sat instead of sitting and standing as in “I was stood in the rain waiting for a bus” or “he was sat reading”.
Grrrr.....

Esspee Wed 14-Nov-18 13:59:27

The pronunciation of assume as ashume. This is slowly spreading and can frequently be heard by seemingly intelligent people on TV and radio. I always wonder how they pronounce assumption. smile

For Better or Worsegrin

Lindylou57 Wed 14-Nov-18 13:44:51

People who get on the bus and then search for their wallet or purse, people who press the bell for the next stop when we are ages away from it or 5 seconds after the bus has left the last stop and get off barely a few feet from the last one, cant they walk that few yards extra( we have certain areas in MK where the bus will stop anywhere).
Announcers who talk over the credits or when the credits shrink so it impossible to read them and you want to know who that actor was who played that part.
Spelling mistakes in official correspondence.
The guy who lives on my street who has let his garden become so overgrown you now have to walk on the road or cross over to get past his house.
My husbands incredibly loud sneeze and my son-in-laws mother who is always going on about her wonderful grandchildren on Facebook when she hasn't seen or had any contact with them for nearly four years ( her choice) and has just put up a photo of them as her profile pic. Aarrgh!

TheMaggiejane1 Wed 14-Nov-18 13:43:35

I agree with jango44. I’m constantly amazed and annoyed by the number of people who should know better who say ‘somethink’ and ‘anythink’ When they mean ‘something’ and ‘anything’ .

Grammaretto Wed 14-Nov-18 13:38:11

Most of the above but also people at counters who say "what was your name again?" when I haven't mentioned a name.
I know this is petty pedantry and while on the subject, this thread is in the wrong forum.
How irritating is that!!

I am guilty of spreading myself over 2 seats on the train if ever possible. Train seats have shrunk and are now as small as airoplane seats except more expensive wink

Lancslass1 Wed 14-Nov-18 13:35:13

Blueskies or start a sentence with "so"

Judie Wed 14-Nov-18 13:33:15

Abbreviations of words really annoy me,Not every one understands them ,even thought to the writer they may seem straight forward and simple they may not be obvious to other people.

KatyK Wed 14-Nov-18 13:21:18

Re the queue thing, I mean seemingly able bodied folk.
