Saying cl ass and clarse are because of where you come from. My son-in-law says bath not barth because he's from Birmingham, so his four year-olds sometimes pronounce words like him, though we all now live in the south-east. Nothing to do with high or low, in which I do not believe.

It is exploitation but the morons appearing on it don’t see it as that.
What does it say about all those who view it regularly?

That's a bit unfair on the Victorians since it was during the 19th century that "insane asylums" actually stopped allowing inmates to be treated like that.

The sad fact is that the guests on JK’s show and their antics are not that unusual in their circle of ‘friends’. I actually think it’s quite important that we do watch it to understand the way some disfunctional people live, supported often in this behaviour by the benefit system. Even JK advises people to use birth control. I find all the shouting and finger pointing upsetting and often think how babies and children (not to mention pets) must react when living in these awful homes. I am sure the JK types are well known to the teachers/social workers/police workers here on Gransnet who are probably thinking ‘welcome to the real world’ !

As the last programme I watch in the evening is on the same channel I do sometimes catch part of the JK programme. I can't understand why anyone just sits there whilst he shouts and insults them. Perhaps they go on the programme in the hope it will solve their problem but it just reminds me of the Victorian "entertainment" of visiting insane asylums and laughing at the inmates.

Think about what you are all saying. What does it say about a person to call another human being a ‘creature’. Surely they deserve our pity, not our condemnation. And why do some people watch these programmes...surely that is as bad as actually appearing on them.

This programme portrays everything that is so wrong with today’s society. Why people want to air their dirty linen in public is beyond me, but that is the mentality we are dealing with. People are shocked by what they see on the programme, but real life is shocking. Maybe the powers that be should watch the show and start to take measures to stop the rot which has been allowed to fester over the years. How people are allowed to live for years on the dole, have multiple children with loads of women and not pay or support them etc It is truly sad.

The dregs of society on that show. Saw it once many moons ago. Never again. I can't fathom why anyone of any intelligence would want to watch it. Fancy spending precious hours of your life watching 'gutter' tv.

I can quite easily understand your DH saying that they cannot believe these creatures (for that is what they are) exist. They are so vile that they become practically hypnotic! You goggle at them and their antics, becoming increasingly astonished/shocked at what you are seeing and hearing - and then you thank Almighty God that you're not related to anyone like that and that you don't have neighbours who behave that way! (You hope.)

I watched it for a long time then one day I couldn't be bothered with it any more. I think I outgrew it. There's better things to do.

A family not far from where my dad lives appeared on JK and now consider themselves celebrities when they are really just modern day gangsters . I agree with Izabella in that there are a lot more people who really do live like this than some could begin to imagine . I suppose it depends where you live/come from.

Haven't watched it for years, it is the worst form of television. It is not entertainment, in fact I find it quite exploitive, the audience baying for fights and arguments.

OTOH I had a client who went on the show. The whole extended family were so excited about their 'fame' and the whole feeling of being made special. They lived a life of moving constantly from crisis to crisis, so this exposure was not seen as a bad thing by them. The OP's OH's statement that he 'cannot believe such people exist' is telling. I know they do and (with respect) many on these forums have no idea how normal such situations are for so many.

I have watched this in the past. When we bought a new tv I decided it was one programme that wasn’t going to darken my screen ? again.

Programs like JK rely on those in society who will do/say anything in public for “a few quid” and a night or two in a hotel (expenses paid). I find it quite sad really .

It really is exploitational. My DD had it on when I went to visit her recently and I was completely shocked by it. I usually try to avoid it!
