The Sussexes & Hypocrisy

Prince Harry said earlier in the week that social media is as addictive for kids as drugs and alcohol. They can be bullied and become anxious and depressed.

Instagram seems to be the worst apparently, although he didn't mention that by name.

However, AIBU to expect Harry and Meghan with all their virtue-signalling, to be less hypocritical? The Sussexes have just set up an Instagram account and already have over 3 million followers apparently !!! Is this not blatant hypocrisy?

Before this, Harry's topic was a climate change lecture to young people while he and Meghan zipped about in private jets for her baby shower and his trip back for Valentine's Day.

I have always been very fond of Harry but since he has become New Agey and got on various soapboxes, they both have had a marvellous chance to practise what they preach..... but are not doing it.

I'm disappointed in him.

maryeliza54 I know the full story of Sophie Wessex's bad labour actually, although I didn't elaborate in my post. The garden of a house I lived in during the 1980s backed on to the grounds of Frimley Park Hospital. I had my son there in 1977.

The Wessexes live not far away at Bagshot so it would make sense for her to give birth there, either as an NHS patient or privately.

Poor Harry ..... not the sharpest knife in the box ...... she has him hook, line and sinker! It may turn out ok IF she really loves him and has his interests at heart. Let’s hope he is this generations Princess Margaret. Only time will tell.

Reading about Meghan wanting social equality ..... therefore she might opt to be like the people and give birth in an NHS hospital ........ doesn’t quite marry up with her £500k plus maternity wardrobe! You have to laugh!

EllanVannin Sun 07-Apr-19 13:27:53

I think she'd better come off that high-horse of hers, well drop a notch or two or she's going to cause ructions somewhere along the line. Blimey does she like attention !

Just reading about another prospective wedding in the year between Princess Beatrice and her billionaire-----koff ! A joke there somewhere courtesy " Mrs Merton ( the late )".

Victoria Beckham is overseeing the décor at Frogmore and Brooklyn is joining David Attenborough with a filming job.

It's all happening. Can't be bad.

When she flew out of the country during her pregnancy she didn’t have her own medical attendant, she used queenie’s

Mycatisahacker Sun 07-Apr-19 13:00:20

See I think all the younger Royals would benefit from watching queenie.

Keep it zipped. Keep a low profile and accept you are their by birth not intellect or superior knowledge.

Anniebach Sun 07-Apr-19 12:57:48

Megan is her own person when she wants to be and a Windsor when she wants to be , hypocritical

, ‘ I am not like the royals, I do things my way, l live in their property, I have their security , their money, their title but I am my own person’

maryeliza54 Sun 07-Apr-19 12:54:45

Sorry- baby was taken to a London hospital for special care but SW stayed at FP as she was so dreadfully ill and neatly died.

maryeliza54 Sun 07-Apr-19 12:50:41

Sparkle there’s a bit more to SW’s story than that -she went to Frimley Park as an emergency a month early and whilst the queens obs got there in time, the actual operation and all subsequent baby and mother care was carried out by NHS staff. SW was so impressed by the care she received she went back there for her next baby.

The Queen's medical team are supposedly the best in the world, and they stepped in when Sophie Wessex had a terrible labour and haemorrhaging giving birth to her daughter.

I suspect that although Meghan is bolshy about doing anything that is expected of her, the medics she has rejected will be on standby, because can you imagine if the worst happened and she lost the baby, bled to death herself, or the baby was damaged in some way. Obviously I wouldn't wish it on anybody, but these things happen and she is an older first-time mother who may be putting her baby or herself at risk just to make a point.

I think she is possibly what my mother would have called "cussed" (annoyingly obstinate). (ducks below parapet)

EllanVannin Sun 07-Apr-19 12:24:33

Well Meghan's clearly showing the establishment that she's her own person by having her own medical team when she gives birth. That'll cause more long faces I suspect as its been a given over the years that the Queen's team of medics etc perform these procedures.

Better start as you mean to carry on I suppose and looking back over the years at progression in the royal households it would now appear that they're becoming ordinary families but with rather more dosh.

Interesting about David Attenborough. I admire him and love his work.

However, I remember at the end of the 80's we were flying back from Kenya and had specifically booked a non stop flight with B.A.

The captain announced we would be making an unscheduled stop in Cyprus to pick up David Attenborough and presumably, his film crew. We didn't see them they went straight into first class.

This stop must have cost the airline a fair bit plus they had quite a few angry passengers on their hands who had paid a premium price for a non stop flight. We complained to BA and received, I seem to remember, £150. Quite a lot in those days. Presumably others received the same.

I don’t read The Daily Mail, I too have a mind of my own ,
as a celebrity couple they are proving successful, as members of the royal family ? No

Luckygirl Sun 07-Apr-19 09:59:35

Hypocrisy for me is demi-god David Attenborough earning his substantial living by jetting around the world in polluting aeroplanes and lecturing everyone on climate change etc. .......hmmmmm

DanniRae Sun 07-Apr-19 09:44:04

I read The Daily Mail and funnily enough I am still able to like Prince Harry and Meghan. I think this is because I have a mind of my own and can make my own conclusions about things. And I think they are doing ok!!

Bridgeit Sat 06-Apr-19 23:15:23

I must have missed ‘them ‘telling us how to behave.
Can you tell me where to source this please

paddyann Sat 06-Apr-19 23:09:57

Ah but* Bridget* being unsensitive to those around you..or beneath you if you're H and M isn't JUST about being born royal..though I dispute the rights and privileges that brings..simply from poppIng out of a particular vagina. Its about MISusing the privilege they have by telling US how to behave while blindly going on with ALL the things we're supposed to stop doing..according to them. I am and always have been a republican ,I'm totally opposed to hereditary positions of power .You want to be powerful then bloody work your way to the top ...dont expect to have it spoonfed from birth.Waste of space and money the country really cant afford .I'm sure they are really very "nice" people ..they'd be nicer if they got on with their own lives AND financed them themselves .I have nothing against MM .

Bridgeit Sat 06-Apr-19 22:31:52

This thread says more about the unpleasantness of some Mothers Aunties , sisters & Grans than it does about MM.
Fine if you are not in favour of this country having the heritage of a Royal Family,But why not criticise that if you must , ,just leave out attacking another human beings for being who & what they are , we are ALL an accident of birth & circumstance. Turn your telly off & don’t read papers.

Anniebach Sat 06-Apr-19 22:07:17

Has he found a mother replacement ?

Ngaio1 Sat 06-Apr-19 22:04:17

This horrid woman was bound to cause ructions. She has a very entitled and spoilt way about her. Harry is in for a rough ride I think.

Anniebach Sat 06-Apr-19 19:24:46

Callistemon. ?

Callistemon Sat 06-Apr-19 19:11:54

Merlotgran : Harry has gone over to the dark side - on page 1

shock has Harry joined Mumsnet? or is Meghan on there to ask for advice?

paddyann Sat 06-Apr-19 18:48:28

not bothered if she's slept her way round the world, cant understand why its OK to tell the plebs how to run THEIR lives and do the opposite in yours. As for them being exhausted by the renovations of their new home and a pregnancy...give me a break! I've never read so much nonsense on here ,they didn't do the house up while working a 40 or 50 hour week ..(working ..not holidaying and being paid for it) neither did they have to load vans and move home as most folk do and I'm quite sure neither of them are so desperate for a break that spending more than the average YEARLY wage on 3 nights is justifiable .Private citizens can do what they want with thier own hard earned cash..as any they have will have filtered down in some way from the taxpayer .Its not on !

Anniebach Sat 06-Apr-19 18:41:53

She married the second time age 36, her first marriage was a short marriage, naturally she had affairs . Haven’t read any posts which say she shouldn’t have had affairs,

Rather a lot of rubbish now.
