What a disgraceful speech, by AW, with the obnoxious NF laughing along.
Wither or not you want to leave the EU, the behaviour of these two was IMO shameful.

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 17:41:16

She is a serving member of EP 2019: but was Cons Mof P for Maidstone 1987 -1997
& The Weald 1997- 2010

I have no idea which area Widdy is the MEP for ( maybe nobody else does either.)

MarthaBeck Sun 07-Jul-19 16:05:34

I often wonder why so many of us oldies are so brain washed by the RW media. We know from our experience in the late 30’s of their RW support for the Blackshirts and Goebels propaganda. That the Mail, Express & Telegraph persistently manipulate articles to portray an anti eu stance, generated mainly by their ownership anti EU views, than provide 100% factual reporting on the benefits of being in the EU.

GrannyLiv Sun 07-Jul-19 16:05:16

A vile black-hearted woman, with zero tolerance for anyone who does not share the same view as her, and zero empathy.

Happy to take the MEP salary, pension and expenses associated with setting up office to do the job. If she, and the rest, really wanted to send a message, then maybe they should refuse the whole damn lot and stay in the uk.

she's not old school she's just unhinged!
!

MawBroonsback Sun 07-Jul-19 15:36:08

No, craftyone she is a ridiculous ranting woman who should have acquired some judgement and wisdom in her long career in politics .
Perhaps she is showing symptoms of senility.

craftyone Sun 07-Jul-19 15:33:47

I love Ann, love these old school women, the ones who care not for what others think about her. She rocks and she is certainly not a snowflake or a frightened little whimp.

trisher Sat 06-Jul-19 15:22:01

I think she's been singing "Rule Britannia" in her bath and the idea stuck-"Britains never, never, never will be slaves". Pity she's a few hundred years behind things.
Someone should have told her leaving with dignity is sometimes the best you can do.

Lessismore Sat 06-Jul-19 15:07:21

A long wait, I fear.

GillT57 Sat 06-Jul-19 14:20:20

Thank you lemon maybe I should unleash my inner Duke of Wellington a bit more often! grin. I agree with Luckygirl and Ginny42, she made a 'right show of herself' ( as my grandmother would say) which does deny proper debate and is plain bad manners, apart from the original accusations of racism, hysteria, etc. Still waiting for someone to say they voted for her????

Luckygirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:35:40

I am neither a Remainer nor a Leaver - how tiresome these distinctions are! Some people recognise that the EU has its problems and faults and is not always the best place for Britain to be - and that these need sorting. But this sort of nauseating rhetoric is wholly unnecessary - it denies proper intelligent debate in the quest for measured grown-up solutions, and in the context in which she made this speech is just bad manners.

What a weird woman! - she was in halls at Birmingham uni when I was there apparently - I never noticed her!

Bridgeit Sat 06-Jul-19 12:35:06

I don’t believe her religious beliefs & comments are very Christian.
She appears to be a religious bigot NOT a Christian

Ginny42 Sat 06-Jul-19 07:22:06

Don't you cringe watching her? Speaking in such tones combined with her manic body language looked as though she was out of control. Meanwhile Farage sits beside her smiling as that woman unleashes her vicious diatribe on people who are not responsible for the UK being in the mess we are now. They are MEP's just like ours are.

SirChenjin Fri 05-Jul-19 20:28:50

No - AW is a nasty little woman with vicious views who appeals to the very worst in humanity. Her previously expressed views and behaviours are indicative of who she is and the fact that she expresses her opinions on the EU using a slavery metaphor says all you need to know about the worst type of Brexiteer.

Labaik Fri 05-Jul-19 20:21:44

No she hasn't; she's just looked like a fool, can't you see it ??

Day6 Fri 05-Jul-19 20:19:30

the woman is an embarrassment to many

But to many others, a take-no-prisoners straight-talking politician - a rare breed. Her religious beliefs have absolutely nothing to do with her Brexit stance either. It's a cheap shot. I disagree with them too, but it does not detract from her statement, in her maiden speech, that the democracy of the EU parliament is non-existent in determining who takes high office. Cameron's failed mission to get concessions in 2016 started the warning bells ringing.

Like her or loathe her, she has opened that stinking can of EU worms to great effect.

lemongrove Fri 05-Jul-19 20:17:42

grin
Sorry Gill57 just had to smile ( you are sounding very Duke Of Wellington.)It’s the ‘by God’.

GillT57 Fri 05-Jul-19 20:05:57

Collective madness, people who would be shocked if a politician said that their son/daughter/grandchild could be cured of their homosexuality, people who would, we assume be shocked at a woman prisoner being shackled while giving birth, people we assume who consider themselves Christians and are happy to accept women in office in the Church........but because she is part of the Brexit cult, it is all acceptable. I do not blame AW for taking her chance to earn more money, to get back into politics or whatever motivation she is driven by, but by god, I blame those of you who put her there.

Lessismore Fri 05-Jul-19 20:04:05

That is YOUR opinion, as a Remainer.

Nothing to do with the label " Remainer", the woman is an embarrassment to many.

Being Gay can be cured, chain female prisoners to beds, women who want pensions are entitled.....and leaving the EU is akin to slaves turning against their masters. The woman is an abomination.

SirChenjin Fri 05-Jul-19 19:26:35

You don’t disappoint me - or surprise me smile

Labaik Fri 05-Jul-19 19:24:58

'However, as an MEP for the Brexit Party she is doing a bloody good job telling them that we intend to leave. She's only been there five minutes and she is making an impression. I do hope her speech was broadcast far and wide throughout Europe, then other people feeling less than happy with the corrupt EU may be inspired to rise up and protest against it, as we did'. Oh please; it was like the rantings of a madwoman...surely you can see that Day 6?.

Day6 Fri 05-Jul-19 19:23:29

"She’s a national embarrassment".

That is YOUR opinion, as a Remainer.

She hasn't embarrassed me, or at least half of those online smiling that she blasted wide open the issue of the lack of democracy within the EU. Her first contribution too.

Memorable, courageous and refreshingly honest is the view of others. Sorry to disappoint you.

GillT57 Fri 05-Jul-19 19:21:46

Yup SirChenjin she is a national embarrassment, and I am sorry for those of you who somehow find it important to support her excruciating, racist outburst. I accept that many wish for Brexit to happen, but surely, none of you think that she is acceptable, and yet still, despite the hysterical heroic support for her on here, nobody has admitted to voting for her. Don't give me all that nonsense about voting being private, Brexiteers were happy enough to proclaim to the world that they had voted to leave, so why this sudden shyness about having voted for AW, or are you ashamed of her and of helping to put her there?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 05-Jul-19 19:18:35

She voted in favour of Maastricht.

SirChenjin Fri 05-Jul-19 19:12:41

Oh she’s making an impression all right - like some village idiot drunk on cheap cider, waving her fists and shouting at the moon. She’s a national embarrassment.
